Everyone should know how to make a bump maps nowadays, it's a part of the HEK,

go into Technical/Map-design: theres documentation on the specular feature :P

Arbiter, here's a word of advice;

Instead of spamming users like myself with PMs requesting help, and posting several threads a day asking for help, use this website's "Tutorial" section, and look for yourself.

Several sources I use:
-Halomaps search button
-Ghosts tutorials index
-Halomaps tutorial section
-Google
-These forums for past threads about topics

Spend hours finding it yourself first, you'll be suprised how much you can find, and how much people you'll save from a mind meltdown due to kids posting pointless threads daily.

I've been modding for years and haven't the slightest clue how to make bump maps, so no, making bump maps isn't really part of the hek. knowing how to utilize and apply them is a different story

as slash mentioned you can use crazybump, you will however only get a 30 day demo period.
you can eventually buy it if you would use it enough to be happy spending that type of money on such a small app.

edit: i should have mentioned xnormal too http://www.xnormal.net/1.aspx

lol this seems pretty good info here for using that plugin
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Normal_Map_Creation_in_The_GIMP
basically it explains about making a 3d object show up in gimp, for example a sphere, box etc so that you can see your bump maps depth against the object.
