Almost always when I load any map in Halo CE (no matter the tagset), my PC ends up completely shutting off and restarting. It seems to happen for no apparent reason, and this is something I've never dealt with before. I haven't tried re-installing CE yet because I don't know what the problem is or if re-installing CE would in fact fix my problem.
This is preventing me from doing any real work, and I can't give Higuy his HUD until I test it and finish the final things, but the game\PC crashes\restarts about 10-30 seconds into a map. It even happens at the UI sometimes. Edited by Jesse on Feb 1, 2012 at 12:50 AM
Safe-mode so far hasn't given me any problems, but I can't run it at a higher resolution than 800 x 400, which makes it tough to test the high-poly hud bitmaps. Edited by Jesse on Feb 1, 2012 at 12:53 AM

Edited by Jesse on Feb 1, 2012 at 12:53 AM Does it randomly black screen and then turn back on? I used to have this problem before... I think while I was ingame, my mouse was still clicking buttons on my desktop, and it turned the PC off by playing it... it was really strange o.o If I were you, i'd run it in windowed (Edit your shortcut, and add -windowed like you would add -console) then apply it, and boot up CE. This way, you can actually monitor what your mouse does. (You can find more information on setting it up, just click here.I hope this helps some.

Assuming that it is ONLY Halo CE that causes this issues: then it sounds like a video problem. Be sure you don't have any third party applications running like Xfire or even Open Sauce and remove any other video processing or DirectX hooks you may have installed. If that doesn't do it then backup the tags and uninstall and re-install. One last thing is to try either upgrading or re-installing the video drivers.

^ While you're backing things up you might simply consider reformatting as well! :)

You know what? My old PC was 7-8 years old and I was having that problem... That could have been what was happening to me. When I use windowed, that stopped.
Thank goodness for my new kick-butt PC

It tells you the temperature of your computer. If it gets to 120° or over, that's when your computer automatically shuts down. I have actually had this very same problem with my old laptop, worth trying this either way before trying some more radical solutions ^

Glad to know I'm not the only one! i was thinking it was just my computer and that i would have to search for a needle in a haystack to figure out what the problem is... But yeah, i'll be playing CE, i'll boot up an SP map, then about 10 - 15 minutes into play my screen suddenly turns all black, it then proceeds to shut off the computer. I ususally have to turn it on again manually (which strangely takes about 3 or 4 tries to actually turn the laptop on...) sometimes it asks if i'd like to resume windows, but other times it completely skips the boot menus and the PC will resume on its own... Simply odd...
