Calm down and be more specific about the problem. Because "WHY THA FFFUUU DOES MY KEY NO WORK??!?11!?" doesn't help us to help you.
The game you bought back in'08 or '09 was it sealed? Does Halo install? - If so did you install Halo before? - - If so what did you use first, pirate key or key from box? - Was that on the same computer that you are using today?

Gamespy powered servers work like so(for halo):
1>When a person joins an online game, the CD key is registered as IN-USE 2>When that person finally disconnects from whatever server that they were playing in, the CD key is registered as NOT-IN-USE 3>When the CD key is NOT-IN-USE you could use another computer to play using the same CD key 4>When the CD key is IN-USE and you try to play online using another Halo that is installed with the same CD key, an ingame error pops up saying "Invalid CD key", two copies of halo cannot play at the same time, one person would have to quit(the CD key isn't banned forever, unless this happens too many times in succession). That is why you should not share your CD key(if you ever did)
Did it come in an actual Halo '1-inch' box, and was it sealed? Edited by OrangeJuice on Jan 31, 2012 at 05:17 PM

Edited by OrangeJuice on Jan 31, 2012 at 05:17 PM yes brand new game. won't even let me get pass the Cd-key part of the setup with the Cd-key that came with it. is it because it's on the other Comupter? Did it come in an actual Halo '1-inch' box, and was it sealed? Edited by Blaze053 on Jan 31, 2012 at 05:34 PM

the setup only checks its a valid key, it doesn't check if its used or not. insert the key exactly as it says on the label.
