Does anybody have a fix for -vidmode? Incase you don't know what it is, it's a command line added to the Halo shortcut which allows you to set resolutions. My'n is set as -vidmode 1680,1050,60.
Unfortunately, this method of allowing higher resolutions than Halo's native causes chat to mess up. When typing into chat, you can't see what you're typing. This is very annoying, so I'm wondering if anybody has a fix or can make a fix.
As a final note, I've already fixed it on Custom Edition by downloading a custom chatbox. But i don't think custom chatboxes work on regular Halo so I'm wondering if somebody has a proper fix.

In the content folder under Halo Custom Edition, there are alot of .ksml files that are used in formatting the chat text based on the *height* of a resolution. there isn't one for 1050, you'd have to make one yourself(assuming the engine even WORKS like that...)
Why not try 1600x1024? Just tried it, the pixellation is minimal Edited by OrangeJuice on Oct 2, 2011 at 02:29 PM

I have run Halo in 1920x1200 and never had any issues with the chat.
The command works fine.

I found a solution in a Modacity thread. Simply go to the content folder in Halo's installation folder and find the closest .ksml file to your resolution's height setting. They set height for the chatbox. Edit the .ksml file closest to your res height with notepad and find "Top=". Change the number there to 40 below your res height. If that doesn't work, just change it to random amounts until it works. Edited by Jaz on Oct 2, 2011 at 02:29 PM
