It looks like one of your tags is corrupted.

This error indicates that one of your tags is corrupt. Unfortunately I have not found a way to determine which one. I suspect since you are trying to compile C40 it is one of the tags used in that Single player map that is not used in any of the multi-player ones. If you extracted the C40 with HEK+ doing so again will not correct the issue since it is most likely caused by the extraction.

I have run across this in a similar situation and found a solution that is not without possible issues. First backup your entire tags structure, make a copy in a backup folder then download the Halo 1 Single Player Tag Set and extract and copy over the tag set into you tags folder. Or alternately copy over selective tags that have to do with the C40 level until you find the group of tags that is causing the issue. If this doesn't work or causes other issues then you can delete and restore your tags folder from the backup.

As an alternative if you don't have a lot of custom tags you can un-install and re-install the HEK and tags then copy over the Halo 1 Single Player Tag Set but do not overwrite existing HEK files then re-extract C40 with HEK+ but DO NOT overwrite tags.

c40, that's two betrayals right? Since that mission has the monitor in the opening cutscene, could that be the source of the problem? I know that the monitor's animations usually become corrupted when they are extracted, so you could see if that might be causing a problem.

Vehicles are typically the most corrupted out of anything. In guerilla if you open up the map, and then open the dropdown box for vehicles, and guerilla crashes, then its a vehicle...

This isn't just c40, It's almost all of the campaign. for some reason it seems that b30 is the only one compiling, some times c10.

and its not custom tags.. I tried ripping the map then recompiling it with no changes what so ever and still this.

no red text in guerilla, tags work just fine if open else where, like multiplayer.

ghost's tag set? http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=5832 weren't those a bit broken?

umm, I can't open any campaign map in sapien except b30, wierd...

re-ripped Renamon's campaign (the original campaign just in custom edition)

uninstalled hek and reinstalled

uninstalled halo and reinstalled halo

still unable to compile
By any chance does anyone have a perfect tag set?

Like I said before, if this is two betrayals, it is most likely the monitor's animation file. It almost always becomes corrupt upon extraction. You should look there first.

He says c10 sometimes compiles fine so the monitor animations may or may not be the issue.

Why does nobody EVER extract tags from their original, full-retail Halo PC (all campaign maps and at least one multiplayer map) first before extracting anything from CE? It creates FAR less hassle in the long run.

It also prevents the vast majority of stock tags from corrupting.

you can determinate which tag is corrupted in guerrilla

the program will show an error if you try to open a corrupted tag

you need to open the .scenario tag and then, open every tag attached, will take time, i know, but it works for me...

Also, i use 'halo tag converter' to extract the campaign tags, i dont trust on hek+
