Okay, so here is my story.
Before the days of Halo 2, WarpAssasin and I (MarkMillennium at the time) worked endlessly on a starwars map project, customized from top to bottom. Thousands of hours was spent on this project. Unfortunately life caught up with us and this project was put on the back burner never to be revitalized again. Lately I have spent a lot of time thinking about this project and how close we were to completion. All the models and textures were created, vehicles as well. Everything except for population, that's all that remained. What kept this from being published to the masses was a few small tag tweaks and the process of creating custom weapons. Now looking back, we should have pushed forward with what we had, but unfortunately we didn't know at the time we would never work on this project for over 5 years. The concept was a beautiful one. The map was a single stardestroyer built to scale. Two hangers lead to the interior and from there you could travel to several places. The engine room, cell block hallway (trash compactor too!), the bridge, luke and leia bridge, tractor beam and more. This map was destined for every starwars fan out there. Hundreds of messages have come to us over the years begging for this project, responded with only disappointment.

To cut to the chase. I am anxious to release this map. Just to wipe my hands and say it's finished. The problem I have is that all the tags have been lost forever. I am looking for any help from any of you that are skilled with custom vehicle tags to help with this project. Were talking about the Millennium Falcon with a full interior, so this isn't going to be a simple modified banshee.

All files can be found on my FTP
please download and let me know if you would be interested. Thanks Guys

That is certainly interesting, I wondered if anyone had ever REALLY worked on a serious Star Wars map.

So do you plan to actually pick this project back up, or are you looking for people to finish it for you so that you can finally release it?

Did you have any weapons, or just vehicles?

I will be happy to help in anyway I can to get this map off the ground. This is only in regards to extra models and textures. Tag work, this is where I am requesting help. Someone experienced would be great. But to be honest, I would just love to see this map get out to the masses with it's vehicles tagged and ready. Anyone is welcomed to download these and do whatever they please.

At one time we had a fantastic lightsaber with a superb glow effect, Hans laser blaster and thermal detonators. I can dig deep into my files but I believe they are all missing. Our original plan was for this map to be entirely custom. There are no turbosquid and google files here!

The files do not live only on the FTP so I'm not concerned if someone deletes them, I can always put them up there again. Still, I would appreciate if everyone would be a pal and not delete these.

I personally think that this is an excelent idea, I would love to see a good starwars map (not just random tags thrown together with a StarWars name slapped on it).

Also, although I can't help you with vehicle tagging, I have been working on a Star Wars weapon set.

I started a thread about it here with some screenshots of the progress I had at the time:
http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=37016

I am about 90% done with the modelling now, around 15-20% done with the texturing and animating, and I have started some of the tagging.

I plan to release this tagset for anyone to use.... So if your map does make it off the ground it would be awesome if my tags could help you.

btw, I looked at the video links you included in your original post. The models look pretty good, although some of the textures look like they could use some work. Everything seems way to light imo.

Nice models.

I would love to include them (if this gets off the ground). Regarding the textures, yeah I know, they look kinda funky sometimes. They were created over 5 years ago, when I was first beginning to learn how to create textures. I hope for the opportunity to revise these textures.

Heheheheheh, "well underway".
But seriously, this is galactic civil war stuff, not clone wars.

The main difference is that he is ripping things (at least textures) from BattleFront II, and we were talking about purely custom content.

True, i ripped the textures and sounds (only the textures and sounds, mind) because nobody was willing to help me with the project. It was ripped textures or none at all. If someone had offered, i wouldn't have used the ripped ones. The only reason i got so far in the project was i could mostly do everything myself, but since no-one helped with the things i couldn't do, the project halted.

I understand why you had to use ripped content, and I know it can be hard to find good help sometimes. I was simply pointing out that he said it was a goal with this mod to have completely custom content.

I personally don't use any ripped content, but that is just personal preference.

So what kind of help would you need to finish your project?

Well,
After several attempts and different resources, I am giving up on trying to recover my lost vehicles tags for this map. I believe my only option will be to recreate them. Is anyone skilled with flying vehicle and projectile tagging feeling up to helping me with this? The vehicles we are looking at is an X-Wing, Millennium Falcon and Tie Fighter. All files are uploaded on the ftp site above. Feel free to toy with them.

Thanks
