How does one make the controlers for moveing, rotating and the like return in 3ds max. I somehow got mine to go away.

I just unbound X from that function. It gets in the way too much. If you want to do this, go to Customize (at the top) -> Customize User Interface, then in the Hotkey box, type X, and it should say "Transform Gizmo Toggle" and just click remove.

On a side note, you can set up keyboard shortcuts here to speed up your modelling. I barely need to use the mouse anymore :D

I recommend Z as target weld.

I did X as vertex collapse, works soooo very helpful, when doing box modeling

:O That's a good idea. I wonder if I can bind edge collapse to that too...

Set it as "[Poly] Collapse" and it will collapse vertex/edges/faces/elemtns
