Zoom is more dynamic for cinematic purposes. I'm not asking for a pan-in, I'm asking if zoom is possible.

Besides that no it is not.

It'd be awesome. Halo 1 needs cinematic zoom, color correction, and focus for it's cutscenes. But no, it's not possible in an unmodified Halo 1 engine.

I love the motion on the cutscenes here:

Anyways, sup all. And, um, shut up, Spartan 279. Open Sauce is not the answer to all engine limitations, and many people, such as Higuy, enjoy creating custom content within the engine's standard boundaries.

Chillle the fack up. I just suggested Open Sauce as a posibility. I'm not saying everyone should suck Open Sauce's virtual dong.

Well, there are also many people who would like creating custom content with more room and going outside the box.

This engine has great potential, even without modification. Cinematic zoom however, is NOT one of them that you can do though... The engine is missing alot of things that could be useful, but sometimes open sauce can't even accomplish those things.

You can have a very fun time with camera movement though.

The engine was never designed to be "easy". Bungie only put into it what they needed to make halo, at the time they didn't anticipate the release of a custom version of halo 1.

You actually may be able to do this; camera points have a "fov" property, which could theoretically be used to increase/decrease the field of vision at a given point... effectively zooming in or out.

I am not entirely sure if that was implemented but it may be worth a shot.
