Were you trying to run the .exe by itself, or by through cmd?
If it was the former (running tool.exe by itself), then you weren't supposed to do that. Instead, you have to run it via cmd. I'll give a more detailed response if this is the case.
If it was the latter (you were running it via cmd), then explain what command you were trying to use and then we can work from there.

tool is a command prompt only program. You need to open command prompt then type: tool.exe Where is what ever command you need to do.

Sorry about bump, but I typed in tool.exe in cmd and the result was..
" 'tool.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

" 'tool.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." It is not in your path. Set your default directory to the \Halo Custom Edition folder.

open up cmd.exe
Then type "cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition"
*Note if your halo ce directory is different substitute it after the cd
Now in command prompt type in "tool.exe"

You weren't supposed to type "tool.exe", just "tool" (without the quotations) to get a list of commands.

Please don't post when you clearly have no idea what your talking about. As long as your in the right directory you can type either "tool" or "tool.exe". Both ways work.

Ok, sure. Then explain to us why tool didn't respond when he put in "tool.exe".
I'm pretty sure that all tutorials here on HaloMaps show the commands starting with just "tool" instead of "tool.exe". Please, prove me wrong when I clearly have just as much experience as you in modding.

Quote: --- Original message by: UBE Chief Please, prove me wrong Okay Tool.exe works, so the problem is elsewhere. Actually, typing tool just make cmd look for a file called tool with the extension .exe, .bat, or .com Edited by rerout343 on Jul 18, 2011 at 08:50 AM
