In one of Halo 3's MP levels you can see wombats stationed on a large battle ship in the middle of the water.

Because water is wierd in Halo. All vehicles will work exactly the same underwater. You can make a special plane on the water level which prohibits vehicles from going under, but this applies to all vehicles. Meaning boats will work fine, but warthogs will drive across water. You could theoretically do this and then make a submarine underwater which is basically just a banshee. The plane would keep it from going above water, and it could move around under water fine.

I seriously had a real hard time reading that. Please type properly. This isn't a txt forum. You can't have 2 different vehicles for 2 different landtypes. If you want something to float on water, all vehicles will float. Including the warthog. I never knew you could have a plane doing that? That's pretty sweet.

Well, that just gave me a really good idea for a campaign encounter to be made at some point in the next 80 years of my lifespan. How about a ship encounter. :D

im trying to figure out the best settings right now (because when staying still, they shake, and when moving, they get thrown a foot or two into the air every few seconds)
The basis is just set water friction to 5, and air friction to something that will prevent it from being hurtled into the sky lol (ive tested all the way down to 0.2, and it seemed fine) for some reason, when water friction is that high, the vehicle is refused entry into water, and if spawned under it (like the further warthog) it is thrown violently to the surface (after flying into the sky 50 or so feet (it hits my skybox lol)) and is unable to sink.

So, water friction 2 and below are no good (you sink and spaz out) 2.5 and up seem good (not bothering to test between there)
for the air friction, it determins how much air you can get. current tests show that 0.2 has some jumpyness and will toss you a foot into the air when moving. 0.5 makes the spazms far far less noticable, and you don't seem to leave the water anymore... problem is, with that much air friction, your speed is decreased considerably, and since your locked onto the water fairly well, that high friction from it is slowing you down too.
Off for moar tests. (im doing my tests with a ghost style vehicle setup, ill try others later)
