I'm currently in the process of compiling a video (approx. 25 min long) showcasing all of the maps within the Map Pack...

...the downside is that my crappy-as-hell desktop is taking ~5 hours to save it all into a video file >.>

I do, however, have the uncompiled videos (without any sound) to share with anyone who wants a fly-through of any of the five maps.

Well, I've saved it all, but YouTube won't let me upload it because of its length >:U

Honestly YouTube, **** you.

MegaUpload, at least you don't fail me!

Split it into individual map sections, upload to youtube.
More people will watch it.

EDIT: Why is that yellow? and if it isn't then i guess i fixed it.

You know what this map pack needs?
MORE COWBELL! Xp

But on a more serious note, UBE Chief your map is too big for me to download on rapidshare and megaupload. Can you make a serperate link that allows me to download the maps individually, so i can play the updated versions? Thank you

lol Olly, it still isn't fixed. I added the yellow BBC at the end of my post to make the "edited by" thing "disappear" :p

Oh, not to mention the fact that when I compiled the video, it took me well over 5 hours (yes, HOURS) to save the stupid thing - and I had to do it TWICE. I'm not exactly willing to spend another five (or more) hours to edit and save the five videos that make up the fully compiled one.

Carter, it's not a .map file, it's a .zip file with five .map files within, lol. Plus, RapidShare sucks. It took me three times as long to upload it there than MegaUpload.

RapidShare = 3+ hours
MegaUpload = <1 hour

By that calculation, it shouldn't take longer than half an hour to download the Map Pack.

Quote: --- Original message by: cyboryxmen
Also, you can always compress the map with a zip. i have downloaded zip files from mediafire that contains zip files containing zip files.
-Zekilk
I tried that. MediaFire still wouldn't accept the Map Pack.

I think You should at least do SOME work on this instead of object placement, call me a troll? take a look at some other members around here. this is feedback and if You look at another mod with a different sbsp and CMT's HUD with h3 weapons. You could see nearly no difference. Sorry, but I'm calling this one out as another disappointing mod that's been done before.

EDIT: Now, I'm not trying to troll You. I'm giving constructive feedback, and if You think about it. A new HUD (at least bitmap wise) would really make a difference here.
Also some new skins on the weapons, vehicles, etc.. Would do some more. Don't have someone that is skilled in Photoshop? hit me up on Xfire: loganmonster1996

Perfect. Thank you so much for your assistance! I will hit you up on Xfire, and we can see what can be done about improving this.

Btw, I wouldn't call you a troll. Trolls don't give out pointers, lol.

Why is there absolutely nothing custom in these maps :\

At this point the only custom thing visible is object placement, and anyone can do object placement. Take some actual time and create custom content instead of throwing together other peoples tags into mediocre maps.

Because I absolutely suck at making my own custom content :|

It took me far longer to pick and mod the SP>MP maps than you think. And again, I suck at creating custom content. Hence my title as an intermediate map modder

Allow me to get my commentary from CE3's thread...

I thought that was because most of the multiplayer mods out there are BG mods :p

I actually went out of my way to find a proper place where it takes skill and sneaky-ness to come out on top.

AoTCR, for one, was quite hard to mod because on one end, you have a fortress base, and on the other, a nearly open base, easy to strike. This is why I put a crashed Pelican and a mini-base at the far end, along with giving Reds the vast majority of vehicles to support their defense.

b40-arena was another difficult map to mod. As a CQC map, there weren't many places for players to hide/camp as grenades can easily flush them out. You would actually have to go out of your way to hide, and at times, that can be very risky. I think I balanced the weapon layout fairly well and there are several medkits scattered around the map along with a few Bubble Shields here and there. Shotguns, Flamethrowers and the only Sword dominate this map, which is why I limited their spawn points.

Cartographer was an inspired mod, as I wanted to provide a CQC-type map with the balance of mid-long range battles. On the middle tiers, you have Slayer, KoTH and Oddball, and a perfect arena for mass carnage. On the upper tiers, you have CTF, a very nice area to be ninja in. On the bottom tier, you have Race, a rarely-used gametype, but with a nice balance for gameplay. I think I drew some of my inspiration from The_Library mod that I had released to HaloMaps a few months back.

Conflict was probably THE hardest map that I had to mod. Originally, it was going to be a d20 conversion, but it was far too dark and large - while being cramped at the same time - for me to modify properly. I ended up going for a c10 mod instead because I was looking to mod more CQC maps. I probably spent close to three days wandering around that level, pondering what part of that level to mod. It was when I reached the end of the level that I finally got inspiration - create a level where there would be confusion and stealth and have one character floating around, talking to himself. That's where 343GS came in.

Whiteout was on my mod list for a LONG time. After playing the original map (in which I completely forgot who the original map maker was), I wanted to make that level better. And so it stayed on my palatte for the past two-and-a-half years until recently, when I decided to bring it back. Fairly balanced, with several ways to get to the opposing base, this was the funnest (is that a word?) map to mod. You can drive, walk through the tunnels, fly over the mountains, or hike over them instead to get to the enemy base. KoTH and Oddball take these into effect, and so there is a hill and ball spawn on top of the mountain, where players can either fly or hike to.

...and now I'm wondering why I didn't add that commentary to the video, it makes a good read/listen.

As for the reason why I don't like you is because you don't give out tips on how to improve, you just troll. And yes, I do know the meaning of the internet term troll.

Zekilk, would you like to help me improve on this? I need all the (constructive) help I can get.

I havn't downloaded them on account of their huge file size, but:
AoTCR: I actually had an idea to do something like this, except I'd do it for Halo PC, I think it would be an amazing CTF game.
B40 Arena: I don't see much for this map, good idea, but I don't think the gameplay would be very rewarding.
Cartographer: Interesting thoughts, could be pretty good.
Conflict: Not my type but looks good.
Whiteout: Looks beautiful, I have high hopes.

AoTCR: I actually had an idea to do something like this, except I'd do it for Halo PC, I think it would be an amazing CTF game. I haven't actually had a large-scale game going on with this - I'd like to see how it plays out, myself :x

B40 Arena: I don't see much for this map, good idea, but I don't think the gameplay would be very rewarding. CQC maps (like b40-arena) usually don't carry much gameplay value, but I'd like to see a 4v4 on this, just to see how it plays.

Cartographer: Interesting thoughts, could be pretty good. There's three areas for combat, did you watch the video? I know it's 25 min long, so you can just skip to Cartographer and have a look.

Conflict: Not my type but looks good. I was trying to make an interesting level with this - see my commentary on this map (look above) for more info.

Whiteout: Looks beautiful, I have high hopes. This was someone else's MP map, but it had bad vehicle/weapon placements along with the fact that all the trees and rocks made it laggy. Considering Whiteout was on my platter for several years, I'd say this was a good map to test out my skills again.
Responses in red.

Yes, that is a constructive tip, but you never said that in the first place, seen here:

lol 250 MB? that isn't a lot. why are people complaining about it? . took me 1 minute to download

also. the maps look pretty good. havent since a nice competitive map in a while. heck i wouldn't be surprised if bungie did something similar to this if the released map packs for halo combat evolved.

If you really think about it, what I'm doing here is not all that different than what 343 Studios has done with Reach - making MP maps out of SP levels. According to them, it allows players who have already played the campaign to get an edge in the multiplayer maps because it's so similar.

All I've done is scope out a few levels, decide which ones were perfect for modding, and acted on my intuitions - and now you have the Adjutant Map Pack.

Hi there,

I am not a programmer but want to leave some constructive feedback. Got the Adj. Beta, played them in a LAN with no players (so that is a limitation to my 'testing' but okay then; not **thoroughly** tested). Here's a little bit of what I found (took notes, also some of the things might be because of this crummy computer I am on):

B40 Arena
Broken flags; I saw no actual banner, just the pole it is on. Nothing else.

AOTCR
The Mongoose says it is a Warthog
Sniper rifle kicks? Raises up after a shot is taken.
Plasma Rifle sometimes has the beam appearing not from the barrel but over my head
Some doors open randomly and others need a switch to be hit
no falling damage?
no camo/invis effect?
no pistol zoom?
Brute Rifle looks/acts like plasma bomb

Cartographer
Flickering and unchanging numbers (only some) HUD
no "no grenades" message
no helmet light?
Silencers, nice :)

Conflict
Silencers, nice :)
No invis effect?
no helmet light?

Just observing small effects that others might raise a flame war over. The maps are really fun to play in, at least they tested out okay. Do the doors work when in multiplayer?? I have heard this is a problem in the past for some people (no way as yet to set up multiplayer with these maps). Textures look good, I enjoyed running around.

I also noted a problem riding in a shee, it looked as if I was in a sitting position as if in a Hog, but riding the shee.

https://picasaweb.google.com/nathan.dkassandra4/HaloCustomScrnshts#5604917580589122850 (link to shee error)

Hope this helps!

/edit: Is anyone hosting these maps on a server somewhere? I'd like top play a bit multiplayer.

B40 Arena
Broken flags; I saw no actual banner, just the pole it is on. Nothing else. That's because there's no wind inside buildings, therefore the flag doesn't wave. Try picking it up, going into 3rd person and moving. The flag will appear.

AOTCR
The Mongoose says it is a Warthog String issue - I have to find out how to fix it.
Sniper rifle kicks? Raises up after a shot is taken. It's similar to Halo 3/ODST/Reach - it's called recoil.

Plasma Rifle sometimes has the beam appearing not from the barrel but over my head That's CMT's PR modded to act like the Repeater from Reach - I didn't change anything else besides how it acts.

Some doors open randomly and others need a switch to be hit That shouldn't happen. All doors do not need switches - they're supposed to open automatically to prevent sync issues in multiplayer or not open at all.

no falling damage? There is, you just haven't jumped from a high enough place - either that, or I forgot to remove that :x
no camo/invis effect? Old video card? I see an invisible effect, but it's crappy on my old computer.
no pistol zoom? Think Halo 3.
Brute Rifle looks/acts like plasma bomb That's what the Brute Shot is supposed to do - it's a grenade launcher.

Cartographer
Flickering and unchanging numbers (only some) HUD Going to switch over to the Halo 3 HUD.
no "no grenades" message CMT's HUD - it's just supposed to be the no grenade icon.
no helmet light? Downside of using the H3 biped set - no flashlight :(
Silencers, nice :) CMT's :P

Conflict
Silencers, nice :) CMT's :P
No invis effect? Old video card? I see an invisible effect, but it's crappy on my old computer.
no helmet light? Downside of using the H3 biped set - no flashlight :(

Do the doors work when in multiplayer?? I have heard this is a problem in the past for some people (no way as yet to set up multiplayer with these maps). They don't sync if they use switches, otherwise, it syncs perfectly fine.

Textures look good, I enjoyed running around. Standard Halo 1 textures my friend :D

I also noted a problem riding in a shee, it looked as if I was in a sitting position as if in a Hog, but riding the shee. Yeah, it's CMT's - dunno why they added a gunner seat to the 'Shee, it's pointless :|
I'll see if I can remove it or disable it.
Responses in red. Thanks for giving it a shot! I'll see if I can work all these issues out for the next build :3

NinjaEdit: How about we work out a gamenight? I'll see if I can find a dedicated server to host it so I'm not overloaded from hosting on my nine-year-old desktop :x

Plus, I want to see if I can get a nice video flowing for CE3 2011 :D

Still got nothing. To get your modem/router's public IP, do this:

Start>run>ipconfig

remember the IP address for your default gateway

go to your browser and type in http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (the x's being that IP address of the default gateway)

you should be able to see your public IP address from there.

If that doesn't work, go to whatismyipaddress.com and it will tell you.

Still can't see beta test anywhere.

/edit: I started a server using aotcr, look for BETA TEST__2 on the internet servers. I might not have my router right, though.

Let's try to do this by EST - I'm available from 2pm to 10pm EST - no later. I think an eight-hour timespan is more than enough time for everyone to get their fill of the Map Pack, yes?

Also, I host on 1.09 almost exclusively and only switch to 1.00 for rare occasions. (Hooray for seperate folders for seperate versions!)

^ That might be the reason why you guys can't see each others servers - different versions of the game, maybe.

Let's try to do this by EST - I'm available from 2pm to 10pm EST - no later. I think an eight-hour timespan is more than enough time for everyone to get their fill of the Map Pack, yes?

If it's possible, I would like to get more players in for this - plus, it's well past 12 am EST, lol.
