Well, I downloaded a HALO:CE map from another site right?

Well, It came with some nice stuff::: Trojans, a few keyloggers, spyware, malware, adware.... yay right? And now I wanna know... is being online on HALOMAPS.ORG safe now or not? Can hackers get my Xbox Live and email just by being online??? Please respond. Oh and this is NOT an April fools day joke. This happend 2 days ago, but it has gotton worse (MS now says my PC was hacked and is being scaned in system registry)

You should get Avast anti-virus, the free version is plently to protect you from stuff like that. My whole family uses it (and has used it for quite some time).

@OP
You're kidding right? You've got a computer with no-antivirus? Oh come on! There are dozens of free programs out there! How have you been protecting your computer all this time? I'd recommend Avast. That's the one I used before I could activate a stronger antivirus.

Or if that doesn't work you could do what I did and hunt down the virus manually (Going through the C:// folder) and getting rid of it that way. (But that took weeks...)

On my older pc, avast couldnt recognize a file with 17 viruses.

Download AVG free and malwarebyte's anti-malware.

Edit : do not use 2 antivirus at the same time. They'll fight mutually

This.

It is better than AVG Free. Also, Halomaps is safe. Although just to be sure I have AVG and Security Essentials running at the same time.

That cant be done by simply being online... you must of downloaded a fake map, maybe with a .exe in the archive... its common to be able tell if its fake.. i have a virus checker but i have not had a virus for at least a year now.

And you dont have to pay for all virus checkers, all it takes a quick google search of "free virus scanner". AVG Free...

Get AVG or Microsoft Security Essentials before its too late. Might want to back up any important files too that you think haven't been touched.

to answer you question: Yes, Halo Maps is safe to use.

It is technically impossible for Map files (*.map) to contain malware or be infected with a virus because the the map would not run in the game engine and the game engine can not write to the harddrive to spread an infection.

This is not a forum for correcting computer issues I suggest you look for computer troubleshooting advice in the proper forums.
