There will be kinks but I think its a nicely themed looking setting with lots of ways to use the utilize the battle field. I cant decide how the map will be but I'd like to suggest or offer ideas.
My description of the design would be: a bombed human supply drop off base near a forerunner structure.
The only problem I have with this idea,
kinda weird to have a built base so close to a landmark . A wall is weird too since it wont help much from aerial attacks and stuff.( Just for the story of the map since most map are based off of campaign levels, i think all maps should have a story 0:)

The location of those tunnels looks pretty good to me. As for where they should come out it'd depend on how large you plan to make your bases. If you'd go for a rather large base that has some walls defending it from vehicles I would let the tunnels come in along a narrow path from the side, actually entering the base. Or let it come out on one of the walls, somewhat similar to H2 Containment!

Good idea. I never really knew how or where to place the exits to the tunnels. I was thinking into the upper story of a 2-story base.

ive only started hearing that joke today, seeing it already hitting the halomaps forums makes me smile
but if it starts showing up on tumblr that already too viral, and its not fun saying it anymore

Ive been lurking threads from November and every single freaking one of them has that line in at least one post, driving me insane.

when is valhalla being released? or did slappy switch projects? :(

I, personally, think that the bright, vibrant, colors look nice and will stand well against the landscape colors of valhalla. Just my opinion.

my favorite way is RGB Multiply on the Diffuse
Aloha, CC, diffuse, all there
RGB Mult
1st slide is Composite; 3 layers
Diff
Primary color change
secondary color change

2nd slot is detail

Blue - take a look at it/try again, it looks a wee bit unnatural but your almost there.
red x/circle - I have no idea what your doing there/unnatural/error, and or you need to step up the polygons a bit
green - good job, looks pretty nice

And even though the player cant see most of it, clean up that top geometry.

Give some specific advice if you're going to give it, next time.
Also I think I'm done with this bsp since CMT is probably unwilling to use it.
