Currently recording myself modelling the Halo:Reach magnum.

Why? - Well to show some members on here who enjoy using the "I HAVE GMAX SO CANT MAKE ANYTHING!!" excuse, that it is, in fact JUST an excuse.

This is my first time using gmax for YEARS so it will be rather slow and me messing around at times seeming as some tools are missing. Main one being Shift + Drag to extrude planes from edges, right pain in the ass no having that.

I will post it in here when done! :/

Gmax has shift-drag extruding edges.
Gmax isn't an excuse for anything. Not everybody can have 3ds max, no matter what we all say.
I appreciate that you're making a detailed modeling tutorial specifically for gmax.

Yes I agree. I've use gmax and it ISN'T that different from 3ds max. You can still easily shape your model doing many of the same techniques in 3ds max.

I'm going to redo it all then when I have more time.

The only problem I've had with gmax is that it's a female dog to export with.

Well seeing as how most people here know that gmax can shift drag new faces (except you :L)
you would be wasting your time showing them how it works.
Do what you were going to do in the first place.

whatever the hell you do, don't do that horrible tutorial style where they alt tab into notepad to type, and then they type at 5 wpm while you're sitting there banging your head against your desk because the person spends 30 minutes typing one sentence

use voice over or text overlays

Just because I didn't know that gmax could do that as well doesn't mean there is no point... the idea in this is to make a decent model in a program that everyone blames for their lack of effort.

Wrong.
Give them the knowledge to use the tools available, go through each useful tool and explain how it could be used to benefit.
Either way, just do it.

I think he means there is no point redoing the tutorial for something people know. But I think that if you didn't show it in the tut, you might want to consider redoing a portion like you wanted.

My grammar? Damn, this is a small community, not a professional job, my grammar is fine. Take is mind im a brit so there are differences.

Modelling doesn't even involve text...

Infact, stuff it. Saves me time and lets me work on my Uni course. Why should I bother if your going to nitpik.

Well i guess i will dload gmax later, and get started.

Enjoy, I might of thought about it, but I have Uni work to do. So no, not lazy.

If your complaining about grammer, you might as well have proper capitalization and spelling too.

Anyway, I would like to see some more tutorials on Gmax, considering it's the only modeling tool I have available to me.
