I've recreated the gallow from the movie "The imaginarium of doctor parnassus" and want to make an idle animation of a corps slowly swinging in the wind. I'm familiar with making animations using frames to move the different objects, but in this case I need individual verts to move (like in a character). It just won't be realistic any other way.

Don't animate by pulling verts or faces. You will need to rig the rope using multiple nodes, then animate those nodes to move the rope in the desired fashion for your animation. Make sure all of it is still under the frame_root or parent node.

How would one go about attaching verts to frames? EDIT: Also, I'm planning on using the point-to-point constraint reactor to animate it (for realism), shouldn't be an issue as long as everything's linked right? Edited by yukonmuffin on Jan 26, 2011 at 05:59 PM

All the animating that I have ever done has been on pre-rigged items. I don't really know. Ask Shadowslayer, he is a really good rigger.
