I actually have this problem as well, theres no holes and such in the mesh but when i export it to any format all these holes pop up, the only way i found how to make it work is to convert to mesh and use the latest jms exporter but sometimes that doesn't work either holes pop up in areas i didn't even modify

escuse me, all computers are real computers. my friend runs windows vista on a 15 year old PC. just because it takes FOREVER for anything to happen doesnt mean its not a real PC.

Look at modeling tutorials, it looks as though you built this using just a box which is not the way to approach modeling levels (though the basic tutorials tell you otherwise). 3D is extremely complicated when your first picking it up and it can be really daunting, looking at modeling tutorials (modeling anything not just maps) will give you more experience with the 3D tools.
Once you know the tools you'll find it much easier to create awesome models/maps.
Just Google Modeling Tutorials and there's tons!! Don't feel restricted to Halomaps.org, the content is made by this community and hell half of us don't even know what we're doing :P

Well, if you want some real advice... Instead if making the outline of your map in paint, make the outline of your map in gmax out of a 3d shape. Try making a plane with about 60 segs length and width, go to editable mesh and move points around to make your outline. Then look at the edges, and extrude them and stuff to make cliffs.

And you should always do your designs on paper before you start them, working directly in 3D can seem helpful but it will actually slow you down especially when your just learning. With paper you don't need to worry bout topology, tools, or even knowledge of the application! Iterations are also much easier by grabbing a new sheet of paper and tracing then having to delete polys and then create new ones. OH! and then when you do go to model it's 1) a much more realized idea and 2) you have something sitting in front of you to use as a blueprint!
