I had asked him the question. He wants to know if there is a tool that turns a normal map (bump map) into a black and white bitmap compatible for halo tool to make into a halo bump map.
Basically a normal map -> black and white bump map -> tool -> halo CE bump map ingame.

You could go into gimp\photoshop and gray-scale the normal-map.

These aren't fake bumps. T_T. Fake bumps look bad anyways
Maniac, tell us what to do if you know how. I tried to just convert a normal map into a 32 bit bitmap but that didn't work as I thought it would.

Open Crazybump, select "open normal map" adjust the parameters for the normal and the displacement save out.

:O thanks, gonna try that.
EDIT: The crazybump sometimes gives shine on the displacement (areas look whiter) so it kind of looks weird ingame, how would I fix this? Edited by XlzQwerty1 on Jan 24, 2011 at 05:07 PM

yeah. That will mess it up as well. The best thing to do is either use this program, or make a new layer and recreate the bump yourself then take the layer and save it as your bumpmap. Still won't be pretty so I guess just the best thing to do is just use this program.

I was under the impression that when you compile a bump map with tool, it makes tools version of a normal map (32 bit colour) I was also pretty sure that you could just compile a "real" normal map as colour key, then change it to a bump map but dont recompile it.

YOu dont even need to change it to a bump map, you just leave it after compiling with 32 bitmap, i just tried.
