Seriously, WTF does the cut tool in 3DS MAX not understand about the words "ignore backfacing"? Does anyone else have this problem with the cut tool trying to cut your ceiling or floor when you want it cutting a wall? This is seriously ticking me off! Do I have a preference or something wrong that is causing it to act retarded. It's even cutting hidden faces for Christ sake!

Nope... I never had this problem before. You could just reinstall Max...

Lol calm down...
now ima hijack your thread and ask how to make the slice tool not cut EVERYTHING that's in a straight line with the plane. For example in my plasma rifle, if I want to vertically slice the top half of the thing, how do I make the slice plane NOT extend down to cut the bottom half as well?

1: Select the faces you want to cut\slice
2: Double check to be sure you have ALL of the faces.

Gay is not a synonym for stupid in the thesaurus.

I'm dealing more with cutting in a BSP on on floors and walls to make polies for certain trimmings, not on a model so much. I think I got it figured out what I have to do now though and it's working much better.

Snap tool: Use it. Also, create your level one piece at a time. I use layers.
Also, I've never actually tried it but if I where a gambling man I'd say holding the shift key would make the cut strait, but it could just not work.
