Another update thread: What I'm doing, what I'm stuck on, and what I'm putting off. It's always good to post these things, so people know what's going on. A good way to wrap up 2010 as well.
First Valhalla, because it's awesome. I've had massive shader problems before and still find it hard to settle on shaders. What I'm doing is going back and perfecting the bsp (or at least the bases) before I continue. More polys are being added bit by bit. I'm scrapping the doors and remaking them, because they were the worst part of the old screenshots. Proportions are better too-- I've been inspecting my refs and found iHalo's bases (the ones I started on by cloning) are just plain wrong, and I've been watching out-of-ratio videos. Take this as good news-- it will be more accurate later.

Second, there is the Flawed Legacy firefight, where you play as the arbiter in a cool environment. Both me and Mooseguy are working on the bsp, because we've helped each other on firefights and stuff. His Firefight-descent in in a bit of a rough patch, I hear, and we're texturing the bsp for this map right now. Halo 2 Vista bitmaps are being used on the bsp and sky. Character models have bad rigs... that will be fixed in the later stages, once we have all the characters and weapons together. Overall the system is underdeveloped... Moose and I are doing this. I've got to say, it looks promising and fun.

Other stuff I'm doing is scripting projects. When I don't feel like modeling Valhalla, I'm working on the following scripts:
Dual-wields--- this works, but I need Halo 2 weapons to rig. Once the fp is done, it will go into firefight. The MP system is too buggy script-wise, so for Valhalla this will probably use an effect-tag system.
3p 'support' weapons--- This is the dumbest 'system' ever. People want to know if this is possible, so I'm trying a bunch of stuff... secret stuff.
Fp legs--- for jesse's sandtrap/narrows and my Valhalla.
Purchase system--- For firefight.

Sorry for not posting pictures... I guess I'll edit them in soon. People quote them too much anyway.

I'll consider loadouts instead. Because if I do, I can implement a really good camo meter.

Camo meter huh?
Do want to hear more.

Also, the bsp he made for Flawed Legacy absolutely pwns his old one in every way conceivable, and I have been given the task of texturing and unwrapping the map.

And about dual wielding... hmmmm...

The digits in the camo meter will show you how much camo you have left. The digits will be edited to be different pictures of the pie-chart. It's either this or make the flashlight meter itself the camo meter, with a different shape. Of course, this means editing the flashlight duration and stuff, and a script that forces the player not to use flashlight at the wrong times. We'll see.

I was actually thinking of something like the second thing you said...
Maybe we could work together on this and both get it working? Cuz my map will be using something that may need this...

I think it might be ok to post a couple.
Note that this is not finished. I am still unwrapping it etc.

Thanks for posting some firefight pics, Mooseguy. Nice unwrapping so far btw.
Valhalla's bases are now finished, unwrap-wise, and I think it's time to settle with the shaders I have. Next to do is optimize the exterior for texturing.
Expect an xfire vid some time in the next few days, and Moose and I will probably be posting updates here.
EDIT: My xfire is not working!? Damn.
Also just noticed the new bevels mooseguy added to the bsp.

That BSP is pretty awesome, I actually thought those were renders of the H2 Arbiter levels.

Part of the halo 2 bsp will be used in the sky tag, to make it look like the bsp is connected to the structure. The bsp is custom... with h2 bitmaps.
Thanks for the compliments.

Other updates:

Valhalla: New video is up on xfire, the bases are done.
http://www.xfire.com/video/3e1d68/

Flawed Legacy: When Mooseguy gives the all-clear, we proceed with tagging and such. Tags have not changed since the old build. Loadouts will be used?

Other: I'm not working on the fp legs anymore, and instead I'm scripting the h3 ui.

Yo Slappy, I'm in a world of #$%^ at the moment, I have no idea when I will be able to get that bsp to you, even though I finished unwrapping it...
It's a long story...

Something obviously happened to Moose's computer. If he could just get on xfire, perhaps I can help?
The spleet is not working yet because nobody replied to my technical topic: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=35785

Are you going to add the big plasma ball that shoots out of the forerunner bases? :D
And also, will you be adding that small river and the lake with the rocks at the back of the map/base area?

This. Plus a horde of other drudgeries. I just have no time for Halo anymore, and won't for a while. I'll try my best to get the existing file to you somehow, but it will be thru PM.

I think you mean to say: "... should be able to jump from the ramp to the glass floor on top."
Probably. But that means moving the whole floor (including the upper railing with the cannons) down, moving the whole inside (including the bottom of the base, essentially lowering everything), or shrinking the nose-tail length of the hallway (but this doesn't agree with my video references).
I guess I'll find a way, but I'm not sure. It seems important to gameplay.

Other updates: Moose is still suffering from Halo-depression and the consequences of using a Mac. So I guess this means I have to texture the rest of the bsp myself...

You'll see the spleet, Valhalla, or firefight bsp in, like, two weeks? Whichever I end up working on more.
