Okay I've sent out the fourth mission of the campaign. It uses the ar and pistol I posted about before. I don't have a proper hud for them so they're just using the halo 1 hud atm.

If the outpost after the road you drive down in the hog is empty, type 'wake mission4' into devmode. The script sometimes ignores that command. A real pain in the ass. Let me know if you get stuck.


notes
In the first bsp you are searching for the entrance to an area that will take you to a teleporter

After you watch the cutscene showing the aa gun. Go back outside and go left onto the grass and through that area

Played through the betas, and enjoyed them very much. ^_^
Just need to fix a few things:
Weapons: A lot of them are inconsistent, and could save tagspace by using just one type of say, Plasma Pistol.

HUD: Just wanna get the ODST thing going. :)

3P Player Character - What are you guys thinking of doing with this?

I got an odst hud set up and it was crap. I'm waiting to hear back from Jesse to see if he still wants to make one.
The player biped will be a crappy halo 2 odst but in the cutscenes where the player's character is shown, it will be Gamma's epic h3 odst.
I think i've fixed the multiple plasma pistol, rifle and needler tags now.


What does everyone think about the silenced ar and silenced magnum used in the 5th level? Should i replace them with the other h3 tags or use the tactical br aswell?

okay i will do that then.

Uploaded the 5th mission and have sent it to everyone.

There are about 100 ways to escape the map so if you get lost, i've uploaded some vids of areas i think peaople are likely to get stuck.

the order of the maps is:

odst_c1
odst_c4
odst_c2
odst_c5
odst_c3

I haven't sent the betas out for c4 yet because its not ready for testing

They are named in the order I made them. They might be given names if i can think up any decent ones otherwise i'll just renumber them in the correct order

latest update

All maps are getting a face lift due to some newly acquired tags which will add a whole lot more quality weapon variety. Say goodbye to the crappy silenced ar and m6c2 in c4 and c5...they are being replaced with the same tags as the other missions and some new ones including the tactical br and tactical shotgun (both are very sexy imo). H1 elites are being replaced with smarter h3 ones until i can find some decent brutes.

Also i need a gauss hog if anyone has one. I cant find any on hmaps and the one i have is corrupt so i cant open c1 :(

ok i'll try playing round with the physics. Any idea how to make it that the player takes the damage and not the vehicle itself?


okay guys, mission 2 has been sent out.

Bugs:
Hud messages dont show up in the initial cutscene so just give it a minute or 2
carbine doesnt have reload sounds
one of the scripts activates early so it stuffs up one of the hud messages
few more

The key to success in this mission is to look for different approaches to some of the larger encounters. There are flanking routes, hidden sniping positions and better weapons stashed around the place so look out for them. After going through the first time you might want to go through again and try an alternate route and you may discover some extra encounters etc.

Check ur objectives thing in the pause menu if u dont know what your meant to do
The mission ends when it fades out. It will load the next map if you have it, if not, now u know where it ends :)

Not sure if bug or meant to be, but plasma pistol overcharges can't kill anything.....i think.

I've killed Elites with overcharge plasma pistol. Which map specifically? You've gotta be specific.

Maybe it's just that it doesn't look like they are taking damage when you hit them. Like for sometimes when you shoot something with the carbine, it looks like it just rippled their shields a little(or looks like they took no damage). Just saying.

Enemies should only react to body damage, not shield damage. I think thats how bungie made it anyway

I think the health bar should look darker and more transparent:


Should have a darker center in the health bar and bit brighter edges.

The weapon icons and ammo counter at the bottom right should also have a darker yellow.

Great job overall.

You can notice the health has a gradient going vertically. More yellow on bottom than on top.

I've made some color changes, but I haven't edited the health bitmap just yet (it's an old one anyway).

Here is a pic of the other HUDs I've made. You can tell I'm using essentially the same bitmaps.

I've made the first beta of the seventh mission. After adding in nav points and hud messages i'll send it out. There is a boss fight which i need to work on making more fun.

Okay i've sent out the 7th mission. I didnt add the hud messages.

Bugs:
shotgun is very long range and you cant interrupt reloading
a few invisible walls in the second bsp, just reposition yourself to shoot around them
odsts fail at driving
boss fight is boring
in the mini firefight, if you've killed everyone but nothing is happening, type ai_kill wave1 2 or 3 depending on what wave you are on
theres some more i cant remember

I've just added a random music file so it doesnt really suit the combat and i need suggestions on what music to use and when.

Story is not explained

Bear in mind that i have only been working on it for two days

The health meter should blend a little more going from brighter to darker from edge to center. Other than that it looks very accurate. I like it
