No, it doesn't work that way. It's like the map is a bag you order from a fast food restaurant. Normally, you order 50 fries, a burger, and a drink. Imagine the fries are polys. as much as i know is that portals are added to maps to control lag,i havn't looked into it in a while.

What's the .mtl file for? It's too small of a file to be a map.
Ugh. Problems. When I try to open it I get this error:

Runtime Error: Out of scripter memory- use options to increase

Don't know what that means. This is why I don't model. I run into too many problems.

Because most of the lag is actually coming from the burger. In halo, most of the lag doesn't come from the bsp, but from other things like scenery and vehicles.

I just thought of a new fun/interesting idea. Lets say while you and captain Keyes are escaping you come across an unknown structure that goes deep inside the planet. But you and Keyes get separated a door.(Like the POA) There you discover an enemy that the covenant worse fear.

Perhaps, just perhaps the iceblown glacier was once a old forerunner storage facility. A place where the forerunners stored flood for examination and their ultimate weapon, in-case the halos were destroyed. Just a random glacier, in the middle of know where. The forerunners thought. No one would ever find it, until now.

Well the main enemy would be covenant. The thing is Captain Keyes never heard of the flood until halo. So That mans Keyes cannot run into flood on this mission. But your spartan can. You and Keyes must get separated though. But wouldn't your spartan tell Keyes about the flood when they regroup? So that means I would have to kill the main character. After that you would go play as Keyes and complete the mission.

I'm not a map maker, but I have a few points here for consideration.

As the Coldsnap BSP is very big, is there gonna be a way to direct the player as in which direction to go? (Apart from the Target Marker, it might direct me to an abyss)

The M82A1 .50cal Barrett Sniper might look outdated compared with the other futuristic UNSC weapons.

This map is going to be used very briefly. You are going to be stuck on top of a mountain sniping grunts. If you move off of the mountain you fall to your death. So there really isn't much going places, just a quick snipe.

Your the first person to notice this. The reason I'm using this sniper is because it looks and sounds powerful. But if someone else has a more powerful looking and sounding sniper rifle, I'm open to ideas.

Hey, I'm a halo 2 guy, it was the first video game I ever played back when I was like 10.

I am definitely in favour of using amazing OST like Halo 2's.

The sniping song: Delta Suite Leonidas sounds abit inappropriate as the mood of the player would be somewhat stealth, and steady, unlike Leonidas which has a fast tempo. (In my view)

All Halo games have amazing OST's, I'd reccomend the Halo 3 Warthog Run remix during the Spectre Run, and probably Spirit Of Fire for when you get a setback or something. If the enemy actively engages you, Both Ways (Reach OST) or Engaged (Reach OST) would sound pretty nice.

This is how the story goes so far. You start out on the assassination mission, Dawn and Keyes. You start looking for survivors of the pelican that crashed in the blizzard. Then you see Ikka, a betrayed elite. Banned from the covenant. She is willing to help you on your mission to take out Flipyap(a grunt that she especially hates.) You go up to the sniper spot with one bullet and take him out. Then the three of you run to the extraction point. But you three run into a weird building. Dawn being the spartan that he is runs full speed ahead into the building. While Keyes and Ikka are trying to catch up, a forerunner door closes between them. Dawn is own his own now. Keyes and Ikka are now forced to continue without Dawn. Dawn ventures into the wierd forerunner building to meet the enemy the covenant worse fear.(Dawn dies.) Now you are seeing out of the eyes of Ikka, Ikka knows where an old doozy the covenant were investigating. You two steel the doozy and race to the extraction point. But you crash and begin to face off endless waves of covenant until ECHO 414 can come and pick you up. But the pelican does not know Ikka is an ally, ECHO 414 then proceeds to fire M19 SSM Rockets at Ikka, thus killing her, Keyes quickly boards the pelican and escapes.

Well, I'm trying to make everyone happy, there are a few things that carter_151 wants, what you want, and what I want. So I'm sort of merging all the story's into one big glob. I don't know what story I'm going to use yet, this is all up in the air now. I'm going to make a WIP thread for this as soon as I get far enough along.

What do you think of you and Keyes getting to the Iceblown glacier in a ODST drop pod instead of having a pelican drop them off.

I would use TM's but there corrupted.
