IDK I would guess Win7. I have had great improvements in all my graphics related programs since switching to Win7. I still believe for stability, at least at this point, xp is maybe a little better than Win7 though.

It depends on the computer (RAM, Video Card, etc).

I mean liek an XP with 4 GB ram and a good video card can run better than a Windows 7 with 3 GB ram and a moderate video card

I would imagine XP as that's what it was made to run on... However 7 may run better, I've never tried it.

That goes without saying. I think this is more of a "Using the same computer, which operating system would allow me to experience Halo CE to the fullest."

Well if this hasn't been answered by Thanksgiving, I may just test it to find out. I'm building a new desktop, and can get a Windows 7 upgrade through my University discounted, but of course I'd need to upgrade from something, in this case XP.

We're pretty much assuming Vista is out of the race here right?

Vista is as bad as Norton Antivirus in the fact that it is one of the worst mistakes in the history of computers.

Norton would Wipe Vista from your system for 2 reasons; One: The standered Vista thing IS a friggen Virus; Two: Norton FAILS!

Norton wasn't always bad you know. However, Vista does work, so it's not a major disaster, while it does have its (many) flaws.

I have Vista and I've had a Windows 7 upgrade disc sitting on my desk for over a year now. I'm too lazy to upgrade because I've never encountered a problem with Vista.

Perhaps, but now at least, Norton has 2 properties of a virus. It will heckle you endlessly until you buy the upgraded version and when you buy that version it heckles you to buy anything else they endorse, and it lags your computer to hell compared to other virus elimination programs.
I mean for crying out loud, before I could try and uninstall it one time, I had to go into task manager and shut off 2 processes because it makes it so you can't uninstall it unless you do so.

Really, apart from making sure you don't have vista, the thing you should be perhaps more worried about is making sure you don't have Norton. (***NOTE*** this is not me telling you to uninstall it from any computer you see. Someone paid for that.)

My experience with Vista has been somewhat in between, my only real problems with it have been with networks. It would randomly disconnect from my home network while my older laptop running XP would still be connected right next to it, and also that older laptop streamed videos much better. Vista did some funky stuff with it, and always had a slight stuttering.

Haha, I never get stuck with Norton to begin with. But I do agree with everything else you've said.

I would sure hope so. I ran CE quite well with a 1.6Ghz Pentium M and an ATi 9600m. Was at a moderate resolution and settings. Your computer blows mine out of the water.

Dude, if I ran that on my old 2006 XP computer, it'll blow up like a bomb :) but I can run that on my Windows 7 now.....it'll just get a tiny bit laggy...

Mine's around 6 or 7 years old and was still going strong until last weekend, that ATi card is finally done. Replacing it probably, that laptop was the best.

I run all my programs on Windows 7, and, I gotta say, it runs WAY better than it did when I had XP installed on the same computer (or Vista, for that matter, which was the operating system the computer came with). I recommend Windows 7 over all of the others, simply because it is the best in all areas of performance, and even though it is prettier than XP, it still runs better than XP. So, long story short, get Windows 7.

Why does Mac fail? Please don't tell me you're just jumping on the bandwagon.

And DOS is the bomb. Actually any command line interface is cool, so long as you remember the commands. Very impractical nowadays though.

Whoops, I meant for the average user it's impractical, very practical for servers.

That wasn't the way it was originally stated, that's why I asked. Yea I know the Mac OS doesn't run Halo CE, in fact, I don't even like it, mainly because I'm not used to it. At the same time, I hate people who hate on it just because "Oh hurr it's a Mac."

I can't believe I actually just used "hurr" in a post. Brb, going to go hang myself.

Good luck hangin' yourself.

I dislike MAC because I just don't like the way it was designed. I also dislike W7 and WV because I can't figure them out. There are alot of things like that. IE Blender. I can't figure them out somewhat quickly so I stick with other stuff.

I don't buy from people who leave people and then take their stuff, change the code and market it as their own. Not to say that Microsoft deserves a monopoly, it was mainly I don;t like the background of MAC, plus mac doesn't like to make compatibility with windows on a lot of things. Also, not to say that this is true of all, MAC owners, but at least all the ones I know are prissy art students who believe artists = God and MAC is at the right hand.

What do you mean by "people who leave and take their stuff and market it as their own"? Are you saying that Apple took code from Microsoft and used it to create the Mac OS? Because then I do believe you have it backwards, Microsoft was the one who took the GUI from Apple and implemented it. (I think Dennis would know more than us about this, since it was before our time... Any clarification here?)

And why should the Mac OS have any compatibility with Windows? They're competing products.

As for the prissy art student comment, I have nothing to say. I hate those people too.

Actually the person who first made "Windows" sold it to MS for about $50k

They in turn recoded it to meat their needs. I am guessing that is what you are talking about since I can't make anymore sens outta that.
