OK, so I have hit many milestones in the development of Firefight-Descent. The map is still far from finished, however, and I have a question to ask you guys about the way I implement equipment into the pause store. Basically, my general idea is to do away with spawning objects in specific locations, and instead give the player instant gratification upon purchasing.
POLL CLOSED. I AM USING OPTION #3 (ATTACHING EQUIPMENT) TO GIVE THE PLAYER INSTANT GRATIFICATION ON PURCHASED EQUIPMENT. THANK YOU FOR VOTING. Edited by MoooseGuy on Nov 10, 2010 at 10:06 PM

I say option 2, the effect-spawn. However, you CAN make it possible to attach multiple equipments to the player. Just do something like: Does ammo1 exist? If not, create and attach. If so... Does ammo 2 exist? If not, create and attach. If so... Does ammo 3 exist? etc. Easier to do option 2 though. Edited by SlappyThePirate on Nov 7, 2010 at 09:00 PM

Basically, my general idea is to do away with spawning objects in specific locations, and instead give the player instant gratification upon purchasing. What I want to know from you guys is:
1.) Should I make a changing flashlight system which changes functions based on the equipment the player has bought? Limits to this include requiring the player to use his or her curretly assigned equipment before purchasing another one.
Option 1 Isn't really something that should be considered in this case, because what you're asking and that I don't think anyone understands it. If it's using the flashlight as a method of purchasing then yes I do believe Option 1 should be used, as it allows players to use the flashlight to purchase guns and ammunition... Use the Flashlight to make menu purchases, how the items spawn doesn't really matter as much as how they are selected.

Hey Dwood, later on xfire, could you tell me how to implement this ability? It would actually be pretty cool.

Referring to a funny song I know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1K3W_UgNSsXD And, I think that second part he posted was from a few weeks ago. I will talk with Dwood, and we will see if it is possible to implement both options. If it is not, the pause menu takes priority. Edited by MoooseGuy on Nov 10, 2010 at 10:00 PM
