1) AR in Halo CE had no firing animation.
2) AR is superior in spraying grunts in SP
3) Either the pistol isn't readily available in MP maps, or everyone starts with it. That's like calling a BR unbalanced in Team BRs.

If you start with a pistol, then yes, it invades on other weapons' territory (not necessarily unbalanced).

But if it's like Hang em' High, where you start with a plasma rifle and each side has 1 pistol, then yes it is balanced. Same with blood gulch, each side starts with 1 pistol. It's just like the sniper rifle being placed for balance, or the rocket launcher being placed in the center of the map.

AR in CE had sortuva firing animation, it moved back when you were firing. It's better than the weapon reciprocating like it has tourrets syndrome making your eyes hurt.

Technically, there's no fire-1 animation, but what they did was put into the overlays animation.

which makes it look okay for an automatic weapon.
it looks better than repeating the same first couple of frames of an animation, then just having it finish the animation when you stop firing.

Not really, because with a lack of a fire animation, the only thing causing the gun to move would be the overlays animation. Moving the gun to the left or right to invoke the overlays without anything other than an idle to overlay onto during the firing has always looked awkward to me.

No. The assault rifle legitly has no fire-1 animation. The recoil is based on the overlays overlay.

That's the same overlay used for looking around. That's why the animation looks awkward when you turn to the left and right while firing fully auto.

ehhh Actually Halo 1's pistol was accidentally made overpowered as a result of a last-minute change. This was pretty much fixed in later games by making the pistol more of a weapon to throw away, although I thought H2's pistol wasn't too bad as long as your foe had his shields down.

The only change I would have done with the H1 pistol is to leave it as powered and accurate as it is, but reduce firing rate and make it semi-auto. I think the fact that the pistol's rounds are explosive-tipped justifies its inhumanely powerful damage, but the firing rate for such a huge pistol is a bit over the top..

Then again, pistols in most "realistic" shooters are pretty powerful in multiplayer.
Then AGAIN, Halo is closer to the classic run n gun and kill absolutely everything shooters (such as Marathon, Unreal, Quake, and Doom) than it is to a realistic, modern combat shooter... in the older shooters, pistols were a weapon of last resort which were meant to be replaced as soon as possible due to meager damage..

i like the game play, honestly in the beginning the animations could be a little smoother like when he looses control but i couldn't really do any better so they were amazing. Absolutely love the wave defense at the end.

Also, that hallway was mean with what you did there lol.

I was messing around with the model_animations for the assault rifle, and it lacked the fire animation. Unless I'm losing my memory and sanity due to recent events (which you slept through :|), I'm fairly certain that there's no fire-1 animation.

You ninj'd me. I was going to say that I suddenly remembered that it was a firing animation, not a fire-1 animation. Dunno if the engine reads firing animations, which might be the issue here.

I think it still uses the overlays, but it's the firing animation and the high rate of fire which keeps it back against the shoulder.

there not unbalanced is just your level of skill with them of course theres going to be some easy weapons but once u get used to the harder weapons its easier to use
