I decided to make some civilian and industrial vehicles from the Halo Universe that have not been seen yet.

Since I live on a farm, and like to run, work on, and play with Farm Machinery, I started there.

I give you the JOTUN Series 1:

The JOTUN "Series 1" came with an optional plow attachment, and larger offroad tires, the 2,000 gallon water tank on the rear is standard with this one series model. The AWS was useful on this series, but removed, and replaced with rear wheel steering.

I assure you, these are export worthy, they were modeled the same way you model in 3ds max, gmax, and in blender. (see wireframe)

Civilian Coup Concept: (Still under construction, need to fix back end, did not finish that portion of the model yet).

Nice, that is one of things custom edition is lacking.

Since JOTUN Harvesters are self-controlled by the AI "Mack" (Planet Harvest's Agriculter AI), there is no need for an interior, and these are not drivable (I may make a drivable version, will make these available to download later on).

I am working on Series 2, and also the next vehicle. I was thinking about making a civilian sedan, taxi, and an older truck. (older as in 2520 from current Halo Date 2552; I think).

You've got a lot of wasted polygons on there.

Way too many polygons on the axles and the underside of the the model.
E: Besides that, the model is just lacking in detail in general. It's really just a couple basic shapes. Look at the Halo 3 forklift and truck cabin for refs.

Yeah, those axels are in bad shape, other than that, I made the model pretty quickly, it such a low poly count though already, it doesnt matter, its under 900.

The JOTUN Series tractors look very simple to begin with, this coming from the books.

Needs headlights.
Ladders
Handles of some kind

Looks more like a bulldozer with a tank, than some farming machine. A forward shovel won't do much farming, could look more like these:

Well, you got 2 potato chuckers and what looks like a front-end tiller. I was aiming for these, but got confused (being so late, and me so tired) and made an earth mover by accident. I will fix that here soon. Oh, here is a plow.

Here's the JOTUN Series 1: Harvester I am working on, have most of the frame completed, have most of the body completed, and almost have the combine finished.

Yeah! That's pretty close to the way I pictured them in the book. I'd download it if you released. :P

Still need to wireframe it, its a simple model, I can put it up for download when I am done if you want to remodel in 3ds max, the harvester is way to complicated to do in sketchup effeciently.

JOTUN Series 1: Harvester

NOTE: Adding stuff still, but basically done, making textures for it aswell.

Model in the grooves of the tires, since they are fairly large.

Good idea, I will se about that soon enough, still finishing up the rest, but not a bad idea dude.

Got some VERY simple textures on it. Need to download GIMP so I can make some better ones.

(going to play Rigs of Rods then go to bed, check out that game, its epic!)

I don't conform to any games rules. That's why I mod :)

I've only modded GTA San Andreas and Halo PC\CE.

Alright, new tires, added rails to the cab, and a ladder, still need to add the chute and storage system, but might make it all 1 unit on the JOTUN.

EDIT: Added Headlights w/ Left and Right angled placements.

Why not. Aren't you making a harvester without guns? I just thought it would be cool. But, whatever.

Theoretically, it is, but since the concepts were very few (only 1 or 2 were ever drawn, and then "basically" scrapped; meaning they were stored away, unused).

But whatever floats your boat =p

since when does farm machinery have a sleek design? they go as far as rounded edges and plastic covers that are purely looks. I have seen some of the newer stuff in person:

Thats as "sleek" and "modern" as your going to get, that is all for show. But who in their right mind who want to buy a harvester for its looks!? (other than movie producers)

yeah, that has a sleek design. and most - if not all halo designs have a sleek look to them.

don't use excuses to use a box and then say its how it should be designed. the idea in games is to attract your audience, so make something like the image you posted seeming as its much more visually pleaseing than what you have now.. which is a box. stop with the excuses.

its the future your basing it in, use some imagination and make it look futuristic instead of 1980's..

The only sleek designs the Halo universe has are covenant vehicles, civilian vehicles, and the mongoose.

We are talking about Industrial ONLY vehicles, these harvesters have the same payout at a better MPG range as its older counterpart.

Other than that, the difference is around $90,000

If you would like to suggest better concepts, be my guest, this is for Halo Harvest Models.
If you upstage me with a better model, I wont be offended, I am not a game modeler, I am a technical modeler.

Ever dimension on that model is correct to usability (meaning the harvester isnt too large or small for the consumer).

your a technical modeler? what does that have to do with the design, another excuse. I thought technical modelers are supposed to model in great detail, like all the moving parts ect..

and its done in the wrong program completely for being a technical model..

just mix the forklift with a harvester...

They are angular and are definitely not sleek like Covenant, but they're not built out of lego's either. Bo's refs are really good too. Study those, and I'd look at these as well:
