Hey guys. I've been trying to work on the RPG_open 6 BSP, but when I import it into Max, some surfaces are flipped. Is there a setting I should turn on or off, or do I have to just flip all of these surfaces manually?

This probably should've gone in Technical / Map Design.

Select all the faces in the map, then over to the right side, under face properties, click unify.
All of the faces should be pointing one direction now, if they are facing outward, just click flip and now its good.

Unify didn't do anything.

Yeah, unify never works for me either. I just flip them all manually.

I've been curious about this in regards to importing models from Halo 3.

Does unify provide better results in more current versions of 3DS Max (2010-11)? I use Max 8 and unify never seems to help in this case.

Flipping polys by hand is for the birds.

The few times that I had needed to use unify in 3ds max 2010, it has failed me. I had to later flip the polygons by hand.

You have to attach the mesh. if the mesh isn't, like, a sealed world... unify can't figure out which is which side. WELD everything. Then unify.
