Maps larger than that have a better than average chance of causing an exception because the game engine can't handle it. That is why the limit was built into tool in the first place.

All map compilers have no choice but to run off of tool in the first place to begin with, so there is no other way to build maps than to use the tool gearbox (or bungie) put into HEK in the first place.
Unless you want to make a single player map, any multiplayer map will only be 128mb, no larger.

I could probably help you (somewhat) with your map if you could tell me what you want to put in it.

No it doesn't. It exceptions when you go outside the specified radius. Sandtrap is the perfect example as to why tool has the limits built in. It prevents you from making a map that the game engine won't run properly.

BECAUSE SINGLE PLAYER MAPS DO NOT HAVE THAT LIMIT.

The size limit for multiplayer maps is probably meant to prevent lag and bandwidth problems. Single player maps don't create lag on multiplayer servers.

Weird...The single player maps I've compiled are all over 156mb

Could you send us a debug from when you compiled your single player maps?

Just out of curiousity, what kind of map are you trying to build?

Ah! That explains a lot.

Whenever tool builds multiplayer maps, it includes most of the original Halo CE vehicles and weapons.

Unless you change that (either by renaming your Halo 3 tags with the original Halo CE multiplayer tags' names, and then replacing the originals with your Halo 3 tags, or doing something else like editing the mp info in the globals), tool won't be able to include your H3 tags and the original multiplayer tags.

What else are you planning to put in your map?

well the map is done but , and i can build it using the standard globals it builds but if i use my cutom globals it goes over the 128mb , so im thinking about deleting all vehicles h3 vehicles , and weapons and putting standard vehicles and weapons and then convert the map to halo pc map and using hmt replace the global vehicles with the sapien vehicles its ok if you dont understand what i mean

Check the top area of the scenario tag. Make sure it's set to SOLO.
