ok so i got hek + and everything works but the thing is when i want to mod a map and extract a whole map then try to run it in sapien then sapien goes to a white screen and closes and i have watched the tutorial on how to do that but it does not work

Uh, no. Do not do that^ Sapien is just crashing because most likely you are missing tags. When you extract tags, turn on the little checkbox next to the tags you are extracting. That will extract it recursively meaning it will also extract all tags linked to the one you are extracting. For example, you extract a .gbxmodel tag it will also extract the shaders for it, as well as the bitmaps referenced in the shaders.

There should also be a gear symbol on the right side, click that, and make sure "overwrite existing tags" is turned off, that way you don't accidentally overwrite an important tag.

If it still doesn't work, find debug.txt in your CE root directory (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition) and scroll all the way down. This file is a log of all the errors Sapien has had. Find the last entry and see what it says. Paste it here and we can tell you what the error is and how to fix it.

You just directly told him to delete his tag folder if running as admin doesn't work. What if that isn't even the underlying problem?

Yes, you are an idiot for saying "delete your tags folder".

The obvious situation at hand is that he is simply missing tags, causing sapien to crash since certain things cannot load.

The reason sapien dosent work sometimes on anything higher then XP is becuase its not set to run as "windows 95". Deleting your tags has NOTHING to do with it.

lol i was reading this and when i saw his post i knew right away wat he meant and then i saw wer the arguement was going and started thinking of a way to break it up with and explaination of wat he meant. Dennis you took the words right out of my keyboard lol.
