how do i check how many poly's my mesh has?

Ctrl + A

and under the side chart to ur right it should tell you how many pollys are highlighted

Halo converts everything to triangles though, so for every quad you have, you have 2 triangles. Convert your mesh to editable patch to see the tri count. But make sure it's mesh before you export it again.

or you can just press 7. It'll tell you polies and verts. Its best to go by verts cause as elefant said, halo converts it into tris anyway.
