That stuff looks pretty decent to say the least. I started using it last year and this is one of my first models. :P

Since this is sketchu thread i have sketchup question. I have 2010, so can I just use sketchup to u know model and stuf? Becuz than I can model easier in sketchup.

Well, there is no effective way to use sketchup for Halo CE other than concepts or to practice general modeling if have never done it before.

So if you want to give it a shot, be our guest =)

There is no exporter for Sketchup and Halo, you have to export it into a format 3dsmax/gmax can import to, then export it from 3dsmax/gmax to a .jms

i suspect tri, but i referenced kip to wings3d(which is what i use) which the model isnt tri'd, but can be(select faces:tessellate:triangulate), exports fine to most modeling tools(3ds,ndo,obj,and much more) and is pretty fast to work with.

This's probably going into UT3 rather than Halo(CE is *ridiculously* picky ugh), I've tried figuring out Max so I can fix all the errors but I just can't get the hang of it, and the terrible navigation isn't helping.

It's a Forerunner thingy? This isn't immediately obvious to you?

Both renders are only half of the map. First is right half, second is left.

You'll have to do a ton of stuff to in in Max, but you could in theory model everything in sketchup.

3ds max is really only good for one thing, and thats it.... gaming.

CAD, SketchUp, and Wings3D are setup for more contributing uses, such as engineering, architecture, blue prints, drafting (CAD), and working 3d references.

CAD can work 3 times faster than 3ds max, and is a lot more simple. But costs more than twice what a new copy of 3ds max does.

Solid Works, a second hand CAD software similar to AutoDesk's CAD, costs 3k alone, and we learn that at my school =p

My dad told me he was using it at work for his drawings sometimes.

How contributive Zira...jesus christ.

Speaking of Sketchup, apparently some people are using it to make Forge maps for Halo Reach, I don't no any details on how and why but it's pretty cool:

Unless they've fixed the models since I last messed with them, they're terribly done. Interior faces and flipped normals everywhere, as well as a lot of single faces used for both sides of a wall, which would of course render one side invisible without doublesided mats, and even with them would look bad.
