Should the camus be a part of the main map, or should it be a separate release only? Some people have wanted it to be part of the main map because it would make getting to and from the dorms a lot easier. Others think it's too much for a single release.

What do you think? Do you want the campus be part of the final release in place of the simple dorm hallway structure? If so, we'd add it to the hallway and place it behind the mountains.

Please leave your feedback, comments, etc. here.

I Think you should add it in the final release rather than separate. This way players can have a full experience of both in one, rather than just half of an experience in 2 maps. Although both are big adding them together would help a lot, and you'd also save people of switching maps between each other. If the Campus is Separate wouldn't the scripted doors you had planned be irrelevant?

If you have no idea what so ever as to which option to choose, maybe you can release Blood Creek RC3 with the campus and one with out. That's my solution.

But then you have the problem with different versions, some people playing the versions with and others without. Is the campus finished? If so, might as well add it in.

No i don't think you understand. This thread is to help decide the fate of the map. Will the map contain the full campus or will it contain the basic dorm structure? End of story.

The campus isn't finished. Part of the reason why he wants to make it a separate map is because it's taking too long to finish. It's delaying the map.

Trust me, that's not delaying the map like the multiple lightmaps and skies are holding it off. He has 256 lightmaps to do and that's when the model is finished. THAT'S A LOT ._.

Also, I have good news regarding the situation with the map, GRUNTS. Thunderbolt said he is returning in May to help with the map. I forget exactly when, could be at the end of or in the middle of May. Either way, we're going full force on it, and all that's left is the campus to work on, so........

Guess what that means?

Ro0ster did us a HUGE favor by finishing the underground.

Dude, you've been working on this for like, 20 years.

Might as well delay a little longer and do it all.

Hmm OK.

Any other opinions?

Oh, BTW, here's a bit of a comedic statistic. If I ran high-res lightmaps the file size would be almost 3 GB because each lightmap would be as big in size as the BSP itself, whereas if i ran them at Tool quality it would be around 400 to 500 MB TOPS. Granted, this is an Open Sauce map, so there's extra room to play with.

That said, I'm not doing high-res lightmapping anymore with this map.

Oh believe me I intend to. I MIGHT, I repeat, MIGHT go double res but NOT quad res like I was doing, but that's if the map isn't crazy in filesize for a single lightmap .bitmap file. I'll probably default to stock resolutions though and just 3DS Max render the lightmaps using Vray lighting.

Dude even just 1.5 res makes a HUGE difference. Unless your textures and such have huge resolutions without the lightmaps don't bother with 2x res or higher.

Yeah a lot of our textures are either 512x512 or 1024x1024. In some rare cases, they're 2048x2048. We're about quality here, not commerse, unless it shoots the map up way too high in filesize.
