I've searched for a while and haven't found any plane modeling tutorials about modeling BSPs. I'm decent at modeling weapons by planes, but I still don't know how to limit the area the player can move around in. For example, let's say I made a map similar to the Narrows (From Halo 3).

How would I set the limit to how far a player can travel or fly (through vehicles) in a plane modeled-map?

The skybox is the limit of the level. Nothing can go outside the skybox, but you can also use the "example_tutorial_playerclip*" material which just basically acts as "invisible walls" to restrict access to certain areas.

How do you even model a sky box in a plane modeled map? And thanks for the invisible walls thing. I needed to know it for some stuff.

keep in mind that the 'collide only' material, doesnt stop projectiles & other things like such. & you dont have to always reference to that bitmap. but it does help from separating colliding materials to just bsp materials.

Thanks for the help, I'll try out the player clipping thing later on. I opened the tutorial map in 3ds max and saw what you meant.

If you open the sbsp tag for the map, there is a high and low vehicle boundary you can set, which makes it easier so you don't have to mess with player clip.

Its vehicle boundaries, not player boundaries. Such as having a really high skybox, you don't want a banshee flying to the very top.
Example is Hydrolysis, the low vehicle boundary is set to the same level as the water, that is why the boats work.
Also, player clip can be set anywhere, such as putting it on a metal fence grate, so you can shoot through it.
And vehicle boundaries can only be set up and down.

You don't need the vehicle ceiling, there is a special material you can use that will make the boats work, which is what was used in Hydrolosis, not the vehicle ceiling.

Portals can block vehicles too such as the portals in bloodgulch. They are used to keep the banshee at a certain altitude.

This is confusing Well, I was working on a highway-type map which leads into a UNSC base. I was inspired by Halo Reach

Can you set a vehicle boundary for a particular vehicle instead of for the whole map?
