subliminal message.

Is it possible to make an equipment that when droped, spawns a bunch of small, invisible ai that run around at random but still show up on your radar? I know ai don't synch, but that's irelevant as they don't need to synch, they just need to confuse the enemy.

I'm just asking because I've already seen other equipment (bubbleshield, powerdrain, etc.) that work almost perfectly online.

that should work. i would say use infection forms, but those might just attack whoever dropped the drainer lol

can you imagine whats going through a person's head as they see all of those little red dots appear, then all start moving toward him on the radar? i would pay to see the facial expression

Dont know, but you can spawn an invisible biped with an animation graph making it move around randomly.

Did you notice how they took it off xbox live. there was a reason. it is really dumb for both teams because it screws you both up.

lol
Um, you could use AI. You could probably edit the actor variant so they are constantly fleeing, that way they don't attack anyone.

its relatively simple. delete the collision and model for a infection form, increase its radar blip to normal size, and script it so that when its deployed, it constantly follows a command line that tells them to move randomly across the area, and add the ai_kill command after it has been running for a certain time. i would do this, and release how i did it. its gonna take a while though

Bipeds need a GBXmodel, I'm sure.

then use the single marker GBX model in the scenery/emmiters folder.

Then you need an animation graph for the biped to move.

ah, a radar jammer
you guys have the right idea. make invisible infection forms, but mess with the actor tag so they stay close but will never attck. then link a small damage effect to the "jammer" unit so after a time it sends out a pulse and kills them all

radar jammer was the most useless POS from Halo 3. worse than the trip mine, by far

Yeah, it only really hurt you, unless you threw it into a grav lift so it went somewhere else. The only reason you'd need it is to conceal your advance, but you can just crouch >_>

Trip mine was retarded as hell, it was a good concept, but the beeping is so loud, you can hear it over the rumbling of the warthog engine, making it practically useless in any situation, unless you deploy it at the last possible second to destroy a vehicle, in which case the blast would just kill you as well as the vehicle ._.

These two guys got the right idea. Oh by the way Elefant, the trip mine works amazingly in a custom map a friend of mine made. Most effective when having it blown at your enemies while they sit in a small hallway waiting for you. lol But other than that, yes completely worthless.

you can make the blip size on a vehicle scale. in the biped tag, theres a parameter that you can modify the blip to either small (infection form small), medium (standard character size) and large (vehicle / hunter size)

Wow, I can't believe this has never been thought of yet. You guys have some pretty good ideas too.

Also, I think the reason they took it off live was because kids were doing double jumps w. it.

For the infection forms, can't you just change the alpha of the bitmaps to make them invisible and delete their stupid sounds they make.

No I'm pretty sure it was just because people hated using it and had too many ppl complaining that it just hurt both sides. Let me put it this way, I'm 99.9% POSITIVE this is why. People always can find ways to glitch if they want anyway.

Off of wiki bro.

- The Radar Jammer has been removed from all matchmaking playlists due to the double jump that could be accomplished with it.
