They won't give it out. Sorry to ruin your dreams, but they won't. E: maybe if Bungie was in control of it, but even then I would still doubt it. But Bungie's not even in control of it, it's Microsoft's decision, so, no, it won't be released. Edited by UnevenElefant5 on Feb 24, 2010 at 08:14 PM

Well what do you mean "i use version changer and it does not work"? You type the command version 1.09ce or version 1.07ce or w/e at any time before the server list page.

"version 1.00ce" exactly that. Do you get a output? like " cannot do command now" or something like that, or "invalid version" anything? Edited by Maniac1000 on Feb 24, 2010 at 10:42 PM

OMGitsthatGUY and sleepy, this thread is a useless waste of time at this point, enough people have already said, its Microsofts code and they will never release it. So anyone can get the picture just by reading the 1st page. I was just trying to help malard, and please refrain from calling me a moron.

Quote: --- Original message by: colter13 @Gamma: When I say they're greedy, I'm not referring to just the source code, but how you said in general they are a company trying to make money survive like everyone else. They try to own every single technology market, and take away from other companies, usually ripping them off. Also what does the work bungie did have to do withe releasing the code. I'm sure none of the original developers are getting paid for it anymore, and would likely support the idea of having the game open sourced, instead of it going to waste.
There are multiple ways to earn money, and this is Microsoft's method. They hardly own every single technology market, one prime example being the search industry. About 90% of it is owned by Google, and Microsoft is working with Yahoo to try and work together to create a better search engine. Bing is a good search engine, but hardly anyone uses it. Yahoo has a lot of visitors, but rarely anyone searches using Yahoo's search engine. Put two and two together. Also, Bungie's developers are still earning money from each copy of Halo PC sold. It'd be a ridiculous thing to earn no money at all from a product when you're the creator, even if a larger corporation owns your company. Either way, my point still stands that open sourcing the code to this community is still a terrible idea. You can argue about Microsoft, but at the end of the day, they're just trying to earn money. The thing is, their methods are successful. Though you may dislike them buying other companies, who said those companies who are being bought oppose the idea? They get to work for a larger corporation which earns much more money, and they're being paid to work there.

Because you would only get the EXE, and you would still need a CD Key, and the maps probably wouldn't be included.

You wouldn't need a CD key if you had the source code for the whole game in front of you. You could just tweak some things, and poof.

You realize having the source code is pointless? The amount of effort to make the game more modern is not even real for a single person within a reasonable time and at the same time is absolutely illegal.

Nobody has to say it, it's just understood you'll be alone, because most people in this community lack the communication skills to collaborate with another person for an extended period of time.

The best lag ever, you will experience enemy vehicles teleporting and vehicles with your teammates crush you for no apparent reason. Enjoy the OMG exclamations over your chatbox with your teammates apologizing for their accidental betrayal! 2. Its the game where your bullets hit the area 10 degrees away from your enemy! Feel the rush as you struggle to kill the guy ahead of you with an AR, and realising that even with burst firing, just 1 out of 20 bullets will hit. Ain't that just fun?

Actually he has a point. Many older games have way more lag than Halo. Marathon is notorious for it. This is due to older netcodes that were more or less designed to perform on the blazing fast speed of 56k dialup.

Yea, I got into playing Marathon one weekend and it's insane. Plus it doesn't help when everyone is a low res sprite that almost blends in with the low res background textures.
