(script startup cut1
(cinematic_start)
(camera_set cam1 100)
(sleep 50)
(camera_set cam2 100)
(sleep 50)
(camera_set cam3 100)
(sleep 50)
(camera_set cam4 100)
(sleep 50)
(camera_control 0)

ok ihave not done any tests on this but i think you should have (camera_control true)
after (cinematic_start) and change (camera_control 0) to (camera_control false). not 100% sure on this but it is worth a try

(script startup cut1
(cinematic_start)
(camera_control 1)
(camera_set cam1 100)
(sleep 50)
(camera_set cam2 100)
(sleep 50)
(camera_set cam3 100)
(sleep 50)
(camera_set cam4 100)
(sleep 50)
(camera_control 0)
(cinematic set_title So_It_Begins)
(sleep 275)
(cinematic_stop)
(ai_place covi1)
)
That's the only thing you forgot.
Also, if it's a cutscene, you might want to add (player_enable_input 0) in there before it all so the player can't move around during the cutscene. Make sure to add (player_enable_input 1) at the end though.

Another thing, you can only have one startup script in case there's more than 1.

Wrong, you can have as many startup scripts as you want.

and the (cinematic_start) command automatically stops the player from moving, it's a part of what it's for. :\

Check the campaign scripts, check the scripts I wrote for you, check other scripters' scripts. Of course you can have more than one startup script. If you could only have one, then you couldn't get other processes to run side-by-side at the same time without having to set up new static voids, or dormants to execute.

Triple check to make sure it isn't missing any parentheses. Then, if that's right, then check to make sure that's not the only error. If the compiler hits another error, it'll cut right there, and never get to the end parentheses, hence the "parentheses is unmatched". Post your script if you have no luck.

You used:

(cinematic set_title So_it_begins)

You need:

(cinematic_set_title So_it_begins)

I think Dwood meant you can only have one startup cutscene.
