Here we go. Basically, I've got some AI squads. The one I'm particularly looking at has 12 enemies. 4 squads. "sniper" has 1 actor "rocket_dude" has 1 actor "baddies" has 8 actors "rock_ambushers" has 2 actors I counted, I killed all 12 of them. But when I type in ai_living_count "encounter name" it returns 1 (sometimes 2) but mostly 1. This happens with other encounters as well every now and then. It's not consistent, I can play through the level fine once, but then the next time, none of the squads will work. The reason this is a problem is because I need a sound to play once the living count equals 0, and if it's still returning 1 or 2, then the sound can't play, obviously.
Any ideas?

Sleep until ai living count is less than 2. Problem solved.

Yes but sometimes the squads work, and then you'd have the last guy of every encounter randomly dying. Yes it would solve the problem for the times it DIDN'T work, but then it would look wierd when it DID work.

Yeah, that works when the count is incorrect, but if the count is correct, and the count is 1 when there really is 1 guy left, that person will just disappear and that will look wierd.

It's a sound that he plays. And note the key phrase: IF THE PLAYER CAN'T SEE HIM.
