im remaking zanzibar with older gameplay sheet thingy/concept. renders: Make sure to do right click\view image(if you have firefox) to view it in higher res! I know i have to finish some of the buildings n stuff and make em have more details, and i need to finish the rest of the cliffs(sigh. its a pain to make those cracks :C)and the cliffs/walls.

To be honest, these renders are atrocious. I think you should also considering redoing all of it, and learn to model human/terrain a bit better. I don't want to sound like a jerk by saying that, but I honestly think you should. The cliffs look really bad, it looks as if you just took a simple model of cliffs and cut it all up. Your structures also just look like boxes practically with extrudes and bevels. Human architecture can be much more interesting.

Yeah, thats not the point. If you were actually trying on those buildings to make them look nice, I'd practice some more and make them look better.

The entire map is bad, your human architecture is all wrong, your terrain is flatter than a pre-teen, and I cant tell weather or not your cliffs are cliffs, or a fruitcake. Go get some referance images and try again.

This matters why? At least he's focusing his time and effort on his project, rather than jsut some render which is no way meaningfull.

Well if he's gonna put all this effort into modelling it, then why not go just a little farther and render it nicely so it shows off your work better?

Nah we blame you, why are you using mental ray? Light tracer is a lot easier to use and most of the time quicker.

I don't understand the importance of the type of render. As long as you can see the map it's fine. You can make the best render you want it won't make whatever you modeled look better if it sucks. I'm also not implying that you or H3Noobs map sucks, I'm just making a point.

I'm not saying it's lame because it's human, in fact I'm not saying it's lame at all. I'm saying he needs to re do his human architechture because there is so much more he could do with his buildings to make them better.

some renders show more detail in the model, for example, a regular scanline render with just one omni is better than the clay render because clay render kills detail

Maybe he is trying to make a surreal Dali-esque version of the map? That's actually a good idea too.. :O
