Seriously. Someone should do it. It would be really cool to see. Especially if someone made more than just one type of terminator. Ex. Terminator Salvations bikes, dropships from Terminator Salvation. Maybe even that gigantic terminator as well.

It's a very good idea, although I don't think anyone would try.

Would an M6D and a plasma Pistol be an effective combo against a Terminator? I think so!

Plasma pistol = disable Terminator (if that bolt, which is friggin' slow, hits it in the first place)
M6D = finish the job (.50 cal semi armor-piercing rounds work well against most machines)
lol
[/offtopic]

so, any one gonna do this? My scripting is crap, so if anything, ask me to do the populating instead (if i have the time, that is).

M6D pistols don't fire .50 caliber armor-piercing rounds. They fire 12.7 x 40 mm rounds.

oops, my bad.
but the rounds are semi-AP, so they still work well anyway.

If you're gonna get started on a firefight map, this is the only script you'll need. Unless you're going to do something else. Like putting in music.

Start the script.

(script startup

Then for the waves, you put it in right after that line, then after the script for the previous wave. No need to restart the script. Unless you want to.

(sleep x)
(ai_place encounter)

(sleep) pauses the script until it "times out". x=(no. of seconds the script will pause)(30)
Hope you understand math.

(sleep 30)

Is actually only half a second of Game Time. 60 Ticks is 1 second. Y'all can do the math. I suggest you do it via variables, however, so it'd be something like:

(sleep (seconds * 60))

Yeah, but you still need sleep_until, ai_magically_see_player and whatnot... ;P

Oh yeah.

(sleep_until (= (ai_living_count encounter) 0) 15)

after the script for each wave. That way, the script will pause until every ai in the encounter is dead. I don't really use ai_magically_see_player, hell, i don't even know it exists. Anyways, that's everything you need.

there is no such thing as a semi armor piercing round, and protip: 12.7mm = 50 caliber action express

the well usage of ai_command_list shouldn't be under-estimated

Yeah, but you don't really need it to make a basic firefight map. You can just make one command list if the waves all spawn in the same place, and in Sapien, give them that command list.

The .50 Action Express (AE, 12.7×33mm) is a large caliber handgun cartridge.

My firefight uses no command lists at all. I find command lists to be distasteful, and they ruin any bit of intelligence the AI could have had. Instead, i use firing positions, and "ai_magically_see_player" for them to go attack the player. That way, they move towards the player on their own, and not because they're being pulled towards it by invisible puppet strings.

Every script command is pretty much basic. Just so nobody else flames me, i'll say "shorter and simpler".

And about the scripting above, why would anyone in their right state of mind use a startup script for a firefight?

The nature of firefight is to have an infinite amount of RANDOM waves come at you. You'd need to have a continuous script and some global short that takes on a random number at the start of each wave, in order to select a wave for the round.

Must i always say it's just a simple script?

Your simple script was not good enough. So I posted some more advanced stuff, do you honestly have a problem with that?

Yes. You seemed to have a problem with my script. As long as you can prove/defend yourself, do it, and i did. My script was made to make the most basic firefight map - in fact, you can even make a good firefight map with just that script.

Plus, how can you say it isn't good enough? This is the art of scripting, or generally mapping. In art, you make whatever inspires you until you've lost that inspiration or finished doing it. There is no criteria for judging in art - what is ugly or bad to one is good and beautiful to another.

You don't get the point of it. It was to make a basic firefight map, but you had to butt in and put in unnecessary stuff, saying that my script wasn't good enough.

Scripts aren't an art. Scripts are merely a smaller form of programming. Unless you're one of those programmers who write their code in ASCII art, it's hardly artistic. Programming is based upon making your code as efficient as possible.

And @ L0d3x, I never said anything about it being Firefight :P
