It would be nice if proper spelling punctuation and grammar were enforced on this forum. It's almost impossible to read the posts of some members and it makes the entire user base look less than intelligent.

And before anyone steps in I know that my English grade isn't very good but I at least try to make my posts comprehensible. I run a spell check and I try make sure my periods and commas are in the right places and I re-read my post and edit it if something is not right.

I'm not telling you how to run your forum, I'm Just suggesting something that would make it a much nicer place to be.

Yeah i dont realy see a point in that. cause seriosly it shows the way people talk. if we all talked the same life would be broing. so i think thats just a lame commie rule.

I'm not asking for you to change who you are and what you are trying to say. I'm just suggesting you to it legibly.

There's no point in spelling things horribly wrong. It's just lazy. Good posts are about content anyways.

edit-

Imitating Arby'n Chief is not cool. He's the most annoying character in the show and the antagonist in most episodes. So yeah, real cool to talk like him.

Since this is not a formal letter, nobody cares.

We've posted as much words as a book contains by now, if not even more, and it would be unmotivating to take our time correcting our own posts just because there is no short way to explain noob-number-100 how to do this or that.

I help people just because I know how and quickly want to give you an awnser, not because I am so interested in people that I'm going to take my time for you.

tl:dr ffs stop whining, you know for yourself that it's not going to change anything.

Your posts are mostly fine. I'm talking about the really bad ones.

Though I don't see how is spending 10 seconds re-reading your post demotivating.

I 100% support this.

Using proper grammar might actually people here something. I would also make this forum more readable. If I visit a forum and everyone spoke in txt language then I usually don't go back, I only stay here because I have been here for a while.

It isn't hard to type with proper grammar... makes it look more professional as well. People may also understand what you are trying to say better.

People may also actually listen to you if you don't type like some kid in txt language and use proper grammar. This isn't an IM.

That is one of the reasons modacity is better, its more formal and professional. And you can read users posts with you read without needing to re-read the post...

Re-reading your own post just once is rewarding, or it's just me.

and Inferno, I agree with putting a bit of effort in it, but re-reading your own post is as far as it goes for keeping it motivated, which for most people isn't enough.

People using a translator to translate their own motherlanguage to english wasn't a succes either, there isn't much we can do about it.

I didn't intend for Slayer117 to actually leave, as you could probably tell. I'm just so freaking sick of members on this forum degrading others just because of their own insecurity. And I know I have done this in the past, but haven't we all? I have seen the error of my ways and tried to correct it using my best judgment and problem solving skills for the better of the better of this community, and I wish other people would do the same. Maturity is something not as abundant on this forum as it could be, and I wish that wasn't the case.
Case and point: If certain members on this forum can see their errors and dis-respectfulness and try to correct it by making themselves a better person, I believe it would benefit this community greatly.

most translators have better grammer than half the english speaking noobs on here, besides...translations are usually pretty obvious.

If a user can't use a period, enter, spacebar, or make even the slightest attempt at decent grammar - i don't reply. that's it.. end of story.

ignore the offenders. their threads will fade into oblivion.

OR, if other members just quit attacking said impaired users for their "unacceptable" English, we wouldn't face the problem of Dennis bringing down the banhammer, now would we?

Look guys, Inferno is trying to help you out here. If you type like an idiot, people will treat you like an idiot.
I remember when I first came here, I intentionally misspelled "the" as "teh" because I thought it was cool. Then I realized it just makes you look dumb.

lol,i always misspell "the" as "teh" cause i have to type fast, cause obviously in class i shouldnt be on the forums...but since teacher is terribly boring, i go on here and do shiz with wings3d(since half the pc's dont have 3dsmax or 3ds max crashes on them i use wings3d to model :P ) but as s a general rule, just go really quick tru ur post fr misspelling or such. dont over exaggerate with that leet speak stuff, but dont go all English teacher on us. /random rant

on a random side note, i got tool/sapien/gurriella working on school pcs, running whole thing from flash drive, so now i can map in school yay(make teh game design teacher mad, cause he is teaching us how to make a ball bounce, while im populating in sapien...but it lags terribly if there is alot of stuff(its alot less entities needed to lag school pc then home pc,and halo has a weird error taht causes stretched faces, aka if i hold the gun the vertex at end of barrel stretches off the screen, but i f i got to another pc, instead its a hogs tire with a monster spike out of it. im guessing tis the pc's video card?) //random digress... ^^srry about taht...

His point isn't about spelling. It's about making your post make some sense. People post for help, and complain when no one answers. Sometimes, it's because we can't understand a single thing you're asking. The rules say that if we aren't going to help, we should stay silent, so we just stay silent.

Speaking of grammar, I don't think you were referring to me, or the person who just posted were you? :)

Stop being butthurt just because you've been put in Detention @ Modacity. If you want better grammar, I suggest you go to another forum.

And people's posts aren't that bad.

It's grammatically correct, because you're refers to "you are". We can't understand a single thing you are asking. I don't see what's wrong with it C:

Technically, the post was directed towards you, but it appears that I didn't post fast enough.

And I never mentioned grammar at all in my post. Since when did "making sense" constitute as "grammar"?

Read the Forum Posting Guidelines
http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=27378

It is all covered here on what to do about posts that do not follow the proper rules of grammer.
Quote:

  • Write concisely and do not ramble. Use punctuation and sentence or paragraphs breaks to make it easier for others to read.

  • Do not criticize or make fun of people who do not write concisely or use proper punctuation. Ask politely for clarification or do not post at all.
