okay heres what I want to know from you guys.

3 things I want to know?

1). Think the h3 hunter beam in the pics is possible?

2). These textures look 3d to me not 2d to me,what do you think?

3). And what color various are best for me to use in your O/P?

I've succsefully made the H2 Hunter beam with my own custom sprites and I believe this hunter beam will be alot less stress on the game engine itself, some of you may know what I mean "over drawing other particles etc"

I don't think 3d textures are possible.

Those beams are made with two planes with the same texture on, or something like that. Well, not planes. But there are two textures crossing over each other and they make a + shape if you look down the beam.

Have a look in theater.

And I think it is possible because when you make a contrail is asks you if you want it to be verticle or horizontal in the tag. So you have two contrails, one horizontal and one verticle.

Normals map is the closest you'll get.

I believe it is possible, though I do believe it would stress the engine

The projectile can emit particles, followed up by 2 or 3 different contrails.

The beam wouldn't hurt you like a beam (DOT), if you wanted it to look like that, as the light volume at the front of the beam would be repeated.

Parallax Displacement Mapping is the closest you'll get.
