Okay I've been tweaking and working around some of my custom h2 weapons and as I've stated before h2 has bump maps on everything,well I din't like how basic things looked in halo ce "pref my custom weapons"


So my question is... is it better to use a shader enviorment on a weapon and biped or shader model?? "I want bump maps to add detail not a model with a image stretched over it"

I've tested the shader enviorment on a weapon because is has a slot for bump mapping but to my suprise it didn't really look any different with a shader enviorment though it now had a bump map,and my multi purpose bitmap I had for the weapon,I wasnt sure where that even went in the shader enviorment tag if any??


So basically.

1) can halo ce weapons and bipeds use bump maps correctly?
2) Will shader enviorment help in my case?
3) Can shader models use bump maps?

bump maps cannot be used on anything but the BSP
using shader environments wont work.

Yeah I guess your right thats sucks everything looks so great in h2 cuz everything from weapons to bipeds have bump maps :(

Also, bump-maps do not automatically make something look awesome.

True. Design and texture is more important to me. Maybe compensate with a higher detail texture. I personally don't like using standard Halo textures. Sometimes just making your own textures can make or break you.

yes they can, they look pretty terribad though.
