hey
i've played Halo CE in the past and had a good time, i have a new computer now and downloaded Halo CE again and a few maps as well. i go to play the game and i get 5 servers going, and none of them are the new maps. in the past when i played, all games were shown and if you didn't have the map downloaded it didn't let u in, but i only get the basic maps on active and empty servers.
i know its been a while, but i'm pretty sure there are more than 5 games going on. any ideas on what i did wrong or how i can fix this

On the bottom part of the games list, there's an options setting. Once in, turn everything to 'Yes'.

You must first have WinRar, or WinZip, they are the applications used to extract compressed files (files that end in .rar or .zip, and related).
A map at halomaps.org is usually in rar or zip format, so download either one of the programs(if you don't have it already).
Then pick a map, download and save to a location, open it with one of the programs, extract it to haloce's maps folder (default directory is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\maps\

No you don't. Windows can extract zip(and only zip) files without additional programs installed. Also, there's a few other zip extracting programs, like tugzip, 7-zip, etc.

All the files are zip files, and WinRar isn't the only program ;)

windows xp and up have built in support for .zip archives. you should be able to just open them up with explorer and extract the .map file

The only way they won't open is if you set them to open with another program, and that program ceases to exist, or set them to open with nothing.
