ok,its been a looooong while since i made a map for halo. i recently installed 3ds max 7 on my laptop and it runs okay. All ive been able to do is make a heightmap jpeg and when i try to DISPLACE i import it into the displace bmp box, and i changed the strength several times (50,500, 5000, etc...). no matter what,it doesnt show the displacement. the surface rises but remains flat. Please help me...

lol. thanks man. i figured it out but havent had time to log in to halomaps.org. i was watching a tutorial video and somehow missed h_guru tesselating his box before displacing. i got it now though, but a new problem arose. After i finished the model, i textured the map and everything went smooth from there. i clicked RENDER and it showed the map with the cliff walls and the canyon floors as if the texture was solid white, but the other textures were fine. i figured it was only going to do that for the render thing and continued to process the map. NO PROBLEMS WITH TOOL, which was a first for me, lol. i got the map into sapien and the map was still only 'half-textured'. Why did it do this?
