Im back to fixing up a Spartan Laser and now I just need to know how to make a decent laser beam for it to shoot. Like how to make it have a contrail that looks good instead of just a red dot. And no one told me how to make a god damn laser sight when you pull the trigger.

I believe the laser sight is part of the model. Add it in when you're doing the charge animation.

for the little pointer laser when charging you add a straight line in the model of the gun right in front, uvw it from begginning to end, and make a "shader transparent chicago" add the laser bitmap which can be the sniper contrail colored red, set it to animate when charging. it's easy

Take the Sniper projectile.
Modify the contrail to be red, the physics to not be affected by wind.
Change the size and life span of the contrail to something laser-like.
Add an explosion effect on impact with anything, what I did was use the Needler small exploision and change it red, looks pretty good.
For the projectile, if you want it more like in the Beta, cause it to overpenetrate Spartan armor and energy shields. If not, if you want it to be more like the retail release, have it either detonate on impact.
For the impact-damage of the projectile, make it something along the lines of 100. For the explosion damage, have it 45. This way, you can graze a target without killing it, but doing a ton of damage, like it is in Halo 3 (Spartans have 150 health/shields, one projectile hitting would do 145 damage).
Set "Vehicle Passthrough Penalty" in impact damage to 0, so it does full damage to vehicles.
Add some force to your explosion effects so vehicles get knocked back and flip around a little. Not too much, though, you don't want to overdo it.

Now whats left is the charging effect. I literally have no idea what to do for that. Ive looked at the hunter cannon didnt help because had no idea where to look for it.

You have to do some crazy stuff with functions. A friend walked me through it so I'm not entirely 100% on how to do that myself. I'll look at what I've got and post more info when I'm not so tired

Also: More video of that laser plz. Projectile looks awesome.

You could have a lens flare or particle that's scaled by the age function. Look at the plasma pistol tags. In the attachment, look at overcharge.light

It's actually five.

And yeah for charging effect I used a lens flare. I didn't have it set up at the time in the video I posted. Unfortunately if you have a lens flare attached to an FP weapon, it renders it over the HUD. A common work-around is a sphere that renders in front of the gun while it's charging.
