everytime that i try to export my model to a .jms (i'm using 3DS Max 2009 so i have to use BlueStreak), it will come up with an error like this:

-- Unknown property: "name" in undefined

what does that mean?

Something is labeled wrong or not linked properly.

Make sure framebox is named "frame" and make sure your sky is labeled +sky. <----(most common).
Make sure everything is linked to the frame.

ya should be like this
Box01: skybox
then Material #1: +sky
Material #2: Bitmap name
Material #3: bitmap name
Box02: frame
then link the skybox to the frame

You should have specified that...
For vehicles, you have your frame hull with all the other frames linked to it. Then the required markers and geometry are linked to the proper frame.

I would assume so. I have not made a custom weapon but don't see why it should be any different.

You have open edges. Collision models must follow the sealed world rules.
