I have A Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT Graphics Card.

I use to have them...they suck...get a new 1 because when my brother tried to play halo at 200fps my graphic card got fried and unable to repair it :(

I'm using a 8600, and I'm perfectly happy with it. I can run crysis on medium settings at a fine speed. I can't even figure out why anyone would want to play at 200 FPS. 60 FPS is already way too much for me.

lol, actually 200fps is possible by turning up the refresh rate up to 200hertz

My Refresh Rate is 75 Hertz [lol Because My Dad's PC uses like a HD TV set lol..] and I use High settings and No problems Best Fps I've ever seen on any PC

my laptop will go to 50fps, well, thats the highest I have seen it stay for a while....it usually bounces from 30 to 60.....

but its good considering =P

Wow. 3 Grand for a computer. Id rather buy a used car than waste my money on that

Than go ahead, a used car will get you farther, but not for 3 grand it wont, be ready to spit out $5,000 minimum for a road worthy rug......and thats from a discount dealership =P

its cheap here, I am getting my truck for $700, its a late 90's Ford Ranger, 4-cyl Automatic, with 4wd, full size bed, and is road legal, not much work needed.....

the owner is holding onto it for me.....

Yeah...... the thing is I don't have any money. I also can't get a job because of the way my schedule is set up most of the time. So i'm pretty much SOL.

Do what Cody and I do, and salvage old computers, and fix them up, it will allow you to learn in depth about what your using, and give you a sense of accomplishment and a goal to make and build your own computer from scratch =D.....

My first computer I found in a dumpster, and just by seeing the way they were put together, I combined 2 computers in my old apartment parking lot....

It's called VSYNC.. turn it off and you'll go WAY above the 30 FPS limit.... sigh...

If you set it to where the FPS will not exceed the refresh rate, you can set your refresh rate to 72, and have a more even gameplay =D.

halo is meant for ATI cards, nvidia doesnt got the support since back then, the cards couldn't do it, but the support is completely scrapped out of halo, so it won't even work on higher end cards because it's from Nvidia.

download 3DANALYZER to EMULATE an ATI gfx card on your NVIDIA card.


That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

A game lags when the FPS is lower than the herz set, usually 30 is enough to avoid tearing, also locked with Vsync.
A game does NOT go faster with a higher FPS, it merely does as much as it can to make the illusion of actually moving objects rather than a slideshow.
Compare it to a TL light, the light has 56 herz or so and it constantly bashes into each other to emit light. it's not a constant emitting light rather a dozen of small flashes.
Otherwise you'll notice the flashing and get a headache, it's merely vital.
you CANNOT notice more than 60 FPS in a game, the human eye doesn't register that, so above it is completely useless.

I'm seriously annoyed at the stupidity and funny stories that are made up.

So I made everything up? Sure.. it's not REALLY at 200-300 FPS (my monitors refresh rate at 1920 by 1080 is 60hz) but it will still register in FRAPS and other recording software (growler guncam.. etc..) so no.. I didnt' make this crap up. And I almost ALWAYS play with VSYNC on to prevent tearing (without it it's huge!) But when that one time I disabled it to see what my PC was capable of... And Geared.. 300 FPS does happen outside of the menu too.. I peaked at 490 something FPS at Castle_mp. Rig :: AMD phenom 2 X4 940 Black edition, OC'd 3.6 Ghz
