I'm looking for a new computer graphics card.
----My Computer---- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.20GHz 2.19 GHZ, 768 MB of RAM
Could anyone tell me what would be the best graphics card i could get. I don't care about the price neither.

before you buy anything you have to find out what slot type you have on your motherboard, there are 3 kinds, pci, pci-express, and agp. look it up before you buy anything so you dont pay 100 dollars for a card that doesnt work

it will run, but will look like crapola. everyones seen ur screenshots kip :P
before u buy a video card, check ur slot type, there 4 slot types
ISA- black ones that are long, found in older computers like pentium 2/3's these are to slow for 3d graphics programs and are best left for soundcards an modem/network cards
PCI-small white slots found in every computer made in the last decade, can run halo, but expect extreme lag
AGP-small brown or green slots, only one on mother board, can run halo with no problems
PCI-e larger than standard pci, colors vary, fast enough to play any game nowdays
a computer with a 2.2ghz p4 with 768mb of ram probly wont have it, it will either have AGP if ur lucky or it might end up being an elcheapo desktop with only pci with if it dose, id recomend upgrading ur mother board, a pentium 3 with a good agp video card pwns a pentium 4 with onboard almost all the time
id recomend gettin an nvidia geforce 5200, it will run halo fine Edited by cody on Jul 19, 2009 at 11:05 PM

Do you mean an Nvidia Geforce FX 5200? That is what I have currently. Halo CE runs pretty decent with it. I only get 25 FPS with running Halo at 800x600. 10-15 with 124x768. Which pretty sucks. You should get something better. Than that.

ye, the 5200 FX
hmm, i seem to get 30fps on a pentium 3 at 1024x768 with hi settings, althought, i got 1gb ram an dual cpu's 1.2ghz x2
the next step up would be somethin like a 6200 or an ATI 9600 seriese. its up to him since he buying the video card, but i just wanted to make sure he knows what type to buy. i strongly urge him to open his pc an take a look

Get a ati hd 4850, there cheaper then the 4870, and can run almost ANY game at higher performance settings. I run crysis on ultra high settings around 40 ~ 50 fps with mine.

Hey, I get about 20 to 30fps......
its not too bad, I just lowered the graphics so online performance is better, I also lowered it because our old vehicles used to be too detailed and hi poly...
I can put it on the max detail and run great now (with no more than 3 people and myself...., any more users, and I need to lower it, I can get a bluescreen easily, thats what Beginner2 does to my laptop instantly XD).

remeber, the human eye can only see 60fps, and 30 is just fine, turning off vesync can make u dizzy, worked on me

I run a motherboard graphic card at the moment my gforce 8400 killed on me but it powered by BFG so I should have a lifetime warrenty am i going to bother to get a new one I doubt it I just buy the latest gf card out there.
Even with my on-board graphic card only issue is the particles setting and something else I turn off... but for the most part my halo runs the same and at 30fps or so with my Nividia gforce 8400 it ran at I believe between 60 and 70 fps for halo on all high settings.. but then again I got 2GB of RAM.
I would recommend upgrading your RAM too if you need to because it will greatly increase your speed and performance. Actually I recommend that you always upgrade your ram and Hardrive as faster hardrives and RAM comes out you may even have to buy a new motherboard.. but all the same It greatly contributes in a positive way to your gaming experience. Graphic cards are really only for graphics..... Edited by skynet on Jul 23, 2009 at 04:03 AM

Its a good laptop, just not a great one <=/ I have fricken fast everything =D I played on Cold Snap with 12 people, with high graphics on, in an air battle, and nothing bad happened =P. I should have got a screenshot when I had gotten 4fps when Cody and I were recording XD....too much going on at one for me, Xfire, Firefox, Halo CE, broadcasting live game, and xfire internet =D, and pigeon (multiple IM software, I used to run Xfire off of it, but I now just use xfire <=/).
