This time, I think it's a tag problem. Check your debug.txt. As for turning it into a Halo CE map, the Official HEK tutorial has a step dedicated to it.

http://hce.halomaps.org/hek/

Scroll down to "Running a Game level in Halo".

In Windows, open a Command Prompt. The Command Prompt can be found by going to Start -> Accessories -> Programs -> Command Prompt

In the Command Prompt go to the main Halo directory. In the root directory is where all the Halo tools exist, there should be a program file called tool.exe.

Typing just tool.exe at the Command Prompt and hitting Enter will show all the available command line parameters as well as the usage and syntax options.

The command line that will be used in the following example is "build-cache-file" and it has the following syntax:

build-cache-file

The syntax parts are described below:

scenario-name - The scenario name includes the name of the directory where the level directory structure is located, as well as the name of the .scenario tag file. The directory structure that was set up for Halo editing is very specific. The full directory structure name is not needed because of this. The file extension name is also NOT necessary.

To go to the Halo Custom Edition directory in cmd.exe, type:

cd C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition

You can't have spaces. Replace spaces with _

Either way. If you typed in the correct stuff, it won't compile, BECAUSE you can't have spaces in your scenario. Replace the spaces with _s, and then tell us your scenario name.

lies, you can, you just gotta put "" around the command that has spaces in it; example: "levels\test\bob eats pie\bob eats pie"

If your debug.txt is empty, run Sapien as an administrator. As for compiling, type:

tool build-cache-file levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulch_test_v1

And @ Kirby, remembering to add quotes around map names at all times, especially for SP levels is kinda confusing, not to mention annoying. I keep forgetting to add them when compiling.

Personally, I don't like underscores in map names. Just doesn't look right. People should use spaces whenever possible. But, that's just my opinion.

What I do is just save all my Tool commands in batch files (.bat) using Notepad. All I have to do each time is edit the batch file for the right scenario, save, and then just double click it to run the commands without having to type them in.

It makes it easier and saves time, and the quotes are already there and don't need to be typed, so you won't forget.

For example, for the build-cache-file command, I have 'compile.bat', which would look like this with the scenario above:

cd C:\program files\microsoft games\halo custom edition
tool build-cache-file "levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulch_test_v1"
PAUSE

Each line is one command. Simple. If I'm testing that map repeatedly, I don't even have to type anything. I just double click the batch file every time I need to compile.

By the way, the 'pause' is there so it doesn't close on you when it finishes.
