This is quite simple...
Go to halomaps map section and look for hek+ by steelbix i believe and download and install that, then start it up and go to open map and open bloodgulch.map drag everything folders and all in the right column that shows up. Into the littel box with lines like this kinda...
________________ ________________ ________________ ________________
and under the box will be a checked box that says save tag data or w/e that doesn't have to be checked anyway you can un-check that and click start and it should process and extract the .scenario file that you can then open in sapien.

to get bloodgulch u need HEK+ http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=1542with that u open the bloodgulch in ur CE root directory and select everything that coms up. then drag that to the white box in the bottom right corner and uncheck the check box that says save extracted tags list then click save and it'll extract all the tags need for sapien to open it

If that doesnt work re-rip the map make sure you clicked on ALL the folders and files

Ok, how are you trying to open Bloodgulch? In Sapien, browse to Levels\test\bloodgulch, and double click bloodgulch.scenario.

If your running windows xp I suggest you check your resolution settings.
resolution settings are under theme under display tab it one of the basic things you need to know about computers.
So I give you a run down righ tclick on your desktop and go to desktop background i think... or you can go to start, control panel, desktop anyway it suppose to bring a window up that shows your desktop and lets you switch your desktop and then you go from there to the tab that says monitor resolution.
Sorry I not completely familiar with XP as I always ran on Vista.

Crash = closing itself. As soon as it crashes, check your debug.txt. Make sure it's closed before it crashes. When it crashes, open it back up, and scroll to the bottom. Do you still have the same error?

Oh vista easy then...
Right click your desktop... go to personalize then go to display settings make sure colors is 32 bit
resolution change im not sure but I use 1024 by 768
Then try to load up Sapien again ... if you still got the issue right click the sapein shortcut and go to properties then go to compatability the bottom 3 boxes under settings check and then check compatability mode and run it as windows xp service pack 2 in the drop down menu... or any windows xp compatability would be fine.

It's not the resolution. That doesn't affect the way Sapien starts up. As for this error, try another scenario. Try opening the scenario in the folder levels\test\tutorial.

What does 1024 x 768 resolution have to do with running it in 16 bit? I can have a 1280 x 800 resolution, and run it in 16 bit. And if he was running it on 16 bit, Halo won't even start up, nor many other programs.

I was agreeing with you about the resolution part as i honestly don't know if that effects anything but 16bit sapien wont start up in 16 bit... but I have had halo start up in 16 bit before so I know that works. Seeing as I got HEK after Halo ce and had to change my monitor to 32 bit.
Also Vista likes to give compatability issues to a lot of XP programs like Sapien and HEK+ considering he can actually run HEK+ without it glitching him up he obviously not running with Vista Aero theme so only thing I can think of is he using 16 bit not 32 or... he got a bunch of bad tags and didn't rip bloodgulch correctly.
