The front looks to boxy and should have more detail on the lazer pointer/zoom thing.

Re-do it.

1) It seems very short. Or it's just the render angel.
2) Make it less boxty, it looks very painful to hold.
3) The insets on the grip aren't that deep.
4) The top needs to be waaaay thinner.
5) The barrel needds a major re-do.

That's all I can think of atm.

1) Yep it's the render angel
2) I was doing that ATM xD
3) oh.. ok ^_^
4) Also was working on that :P
5) that was what I was going to do next

EDIT: NEW RENDER!

Front is beveled.. Face is fixed now ^_^
Bottom is slanted..
Grip is less boxy..
It doesn't go all the way trough? (or do you mean towards the end of the grip?)
Fixing the top cruve things xD

I mean that the bevel on the grip that I circle goes all the way to the front of the grip, there isn't that little part you have where it goes back up.
Blegh, I suck at explaining things :\

Then you really need to take a closer look at your refs before you model somthing.

I'm not sure exactly how to render with lit edges. Also i did stretch mine a bit in the front because it looked impractical in real life.

@Sharp1337X:
Model looks decent, if this is your first model I would avoid making the magnum as it is boring and hard to make look interesting because of its boring design.

Your model seems very boxy, also not very accurate. Accuracy isnt really important as long as it looks good, which it doesn't tbh. Just work on the areas UnevenElefant5 pointed out.

@JHOW2:
I like the render. The top part on the model needs to be made fatter. Not all of it.

Pink: Seams to be some unneeded faces here, not that actualy detail itself. Looks like you have extruded it out then beveled it as well, I would recomend just extruding it. And make sure you make the extrude reasonabily large, if its small and un-noticable then there is not really any point.

Green: Trigger looks weird, maybe make the part where the finger rests thinner.

Blue: Give it more depth so that this will be noticed more.

Blue: Clip looks very small.

Brown: Unneeded and unseen details on the end. Will only see them details if you decide to stick the gun in someones eye.

Red: I strongly eurge that you make the whole top part between the red lines have more width.

Also Sharp1337X is very right by saying it looks stretched. Don't make the whole weapon smaller. Just select all of the verts on the end and drag them towards the grip. On both ends.

==========================================================

Yeah both look nice.

Don't we all.

And this is my magnum if you want to get some ideas from it, but I would not recomend it because it is years old and is horrible.

==========================================================

To render a wireframe:

1. Select all objects which belong to the magnum.
2. Hit Ctrl + V
3. Make sure Copy is selected, not Instance or anything like that. Press okay.
4. Dont unselect anything. Go into the Material Editor and selece a new meterial.
5. Make it Black, and click the Wireframe box which is near the top somewhere under the Blinn settings I think. Have a look.
6. I would knock the opacity of the wireframe material down to about 60% or less as well, but that is just me.
7. Drag the material onto the model, and select apply to selection.

Because I got sick of the bull and made my password random, I signed up again because I read a thread which i knew the answer to and people where being retarded.

I was just going to answer that question but eneded up posting on other topics. :/

Was pretty obviouse it was me, but people had it in there head that I was Onix or whatever.

Edit: I am re modelling my magnum atm. Should be better. Making it into the ODST Silenced Magnum.

^ heh

Sharp: For a first model, that's pretty good. First one I made was also a Pistol. Made it in Blender and I imported it into Quake. The ref I was using was way off though, and the handle was thin as hell. Eventually fixed it up, animated it with a muzzle flash and everything. Fun times...

I've given up modeling Halo weapons because personally I think they're overrated. Especially when games like Unreal Tournament and Half Life have weapons that are more unique than anything else I've ever seen.

OK the new render -wireframe- is done..
I used boolean in this model that's why some place look weird..

EDIT, also some edges just appeared when I converted it to editable poly -_-

It looks okay, but some parts have polygons which are not needed. Actually, alot of places do. But you will notice that as you get better at modelling.

Have a look at a wireframe on mine which I did yesterday and try to mimic it as much as you can. If you look carfully at it you will see the differences in where you have extra polys. (Mine is not amazing but it should help you)

The lazer pointer (or w.e it is lol) seems a little too wide. Other than that it looks pretty good :D .

You know, you could put all your stuff in one thread, or put it in the Weapons WIP thread.
